“THE POND” is opening in Bali (Ubud) in July. It is a restaurant built and decorated with Balinese flair for energetic, vibrant colors, natural materials and classic colonial terra-cotta with a contemporary minimalist twist. Typically Balinese, it has a very open feel overlooking extensive rice fields and a large lotus pond. You can dine at tables or lounge on traditional mattress couches and observe part of the cycle of rice farming by day or lantern-lit eel searches by night (moonlight on rice paddies has a special magic).

Traditional Indonesian Lunch

We had a set menu here as part of a tour package we organised. The food was great. We had a set traditional Indonesian lunch, which included a entrée, main and dessert of fresh fruit. The view was beautiful, a lovely pond. Nice and relaxing.

I first visited this restaurant over 20 years ago and was very excited to find it almost unchanged. The best part is the food is still amazing. Start with soup followed by a plate of tasters then finished with a delightful fried banana dessert.

We were given the opportunity to choose from two menus, one being Japanese and all of our dishes were delicious. Our waiter was attentive but not intrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed dining at The Pond.

The Pond is well set up, but caters for bus loads of guests. The prices are competitive and affordable, but the food itself is only average for this part of Bali. Not a bad restaurant just not great.

We arrived here durring a thunderstorm and they offered some dry tops. The staff could not have been more caring . I went with my husband and daughter and we all had different meals and we were all recommended our meal to each other. I would recommend this restaurant.

Food: just like any other Balinese food, The Pond provided us typical spicy food, most ingredients were not properly mixed but that was what the taste unique, although I thought the food was added too much oil. the taste was not strong, and the portion did not fit the price. too small, even for local. View: The restaurant was facing... More

food was great, setting was great and in typical ubud style, service is stellar. We loved eating at the pond overlooking the pond of lotus plants they have in front of the restaurant. Good vegetarian selection. the only gripe is that while we were eating the meals, the armies of mosquitoes were eating us. Located right next to a pond... More

My wife and I came to The Pond on a whim. We pursued the menu outside and found the offerings to our liking. The location was just right for us, although we did not notice any tables overlooking the rice paddies mentioned. Our table faced "the pond" and we could see the strollers and motorized vehicles zooming along the main... More

On either side of a tall-lillied lilly pond with fountains are 2 restaurants. The Pond and Pundi-Pundi. We had eaten at Pundi Pundi in the past and it was satisfying....food, service, all, specialized in BBQ dishes, but had others too. This time walking, we checked the menu for The Pond: nice pictures, fair prices, and my wife was up for... More
