Loved it!

We went to Poppies for our first meal out on our holiday in Bali and it was a great introduction to Indonesian food. We enjoyed some tasty cocktails and the 'rice table', a selection of many small dishes, which meant we could try many different Balinese tastes. The atmosphere was amazing, like we... read more

2nd visit (1st time was dinner in February 2014 and it was a great culinary experience) this time was for breakfast. The place is still lovely, but the breakfast menu was very limited, not sure if this is the norm or because we went on the eve of Nyepi. The food was average, price was OK.

We ordered the "famous" seafood platter for two. Everything was crumbed, deepfried, overcooked and dry and tasteless. The "salad" consisted of a bit of shredded cabbage 2 slices of tomato, half an orange and 1 cherry and the lobster was not much bigger than a king prawn..awful. I had a mojito that had 2 sprigs of mint in it and... More

Thank you Kelley, for your review. Following your meal at Poppies on 7 March, and direct contact with us thereafter, we did respond directly to your highly valued comments concerning the food, and immediately did our best to correct the problems with this dish. As we responded at that time, if a guest is not happy with his or her... More

Our fourth trip to Bali and we never miss a trip to Poppies Restaurant. Once again we were not disappointed. The food is to die for and the service spot on. Although prices have increased, this is not a put off for us as we are willing to pay for in my personal opinion, the best food in Bali.

OMG I feel like I'm getting a divorce. Our relationship with Poppies goes back decades, my wife and I have eaten there somewhere between 30 and 40 times over three decades, both our sets of parents ate there, we took our kids and now grandchildren and partners there and numerous friends and family. So what has gone wrong? Simple really,... More

First of all thank you for you and your family’s loyal patronage over the past decades. We would like to avoid the pain of a divorce, and would just like to reassure all our old customers that in fact we never let up with the attention to detail that we are known for, and we are not about to begin... We arrived at Poppies on a busy Monday night without a booking but we're still welcomed in and seated immediately. That proved a precursor for what was outstanding service all night - very professional and friendly. The restaurant is in a garden setting and is classy indeed. Crisp white linen napkins, lovely ambience and a great atmosphere. The menu is... More
