If you are in Bali you must try the traditional Sundanese Food, This restaurant is in Seminyak area. If you want to try traditional Sundanese food from West Java. We liked the Balinese greeting upon our arrival. Their smiles were genuine, we were well directed. The food was great as usual. I always like the 'udang bakar madu' and so... More

We were told to visit Bale udang by friends as their driver took them there. We didn't know what to expect but we weren't disappointed. The food is good, setting is good (sitting over the fresh water ponds) and the service was good. Will be coming back before we leave bali. Would be a great place to take kids.

Man was I embarrassed. The actual name is not Bale udang...but Mang Engking. It's originally from Yogyakarta where it's quite famous. Everything is the same it seems. From the food and also the atmosphere and style of the place, Embarrassed because i invited my family(locals) to this place...expecting a balinese restaurant...instead of a transplanted Yogya restaurant. haha. Even the cuinsine... More

Was there on the first evening we got there. Took a seafood package which costs approx SGD60 for a 6 persons meal. Dishes were so delicious I cannot describe we wiped out everything clean! Seriously nobody should miss this affordable restaurant. It's Halal certified too - perfect for us Muslims! Great dining atmosphere: sat on stilts over a huge fish... More

I always enjoy my visit to Mang Engking and we usually go in a large group. I always go on line several days before I go to Bali and make a booking. I really enjoy the food here and it is very kid friendly. Flavours are great, portions are generous and prices are very very reasonable. The downside is that... More

Food wasn't served piping hot but the view was amazing. The bill for our orders was quite high. Food was served after a good 25 mins. Waitress weren't very efficient.

Great food. We over ordered as we assumed small dishes- given the low prices. We were surprised to receive such large portions especially the grilled fish with sweet soya sauce. Our favorite were the clams with Padang sauce. We wanted the table hovering over the fish-filled pond but they were not available (keep in mind a 450k min spending is... More

If you would like to try a great range of dishes (all with helpful pictures in the menu) in an individual bale dangling your feet just above a small lake full of fish then this is for you! There are many of these 'bales (bamboo huts) surrounding (and over) the water with an additional large open restaurant nearer the entrance.... More

Having dined here on numerous occasions it has fast become one of my favourite eateries. With accomodating staff and management, delicious seafood feasts, great prices, and an atmosphere that is both social and relaxing. Perfect for gatherings (like birthdays or get togethers).
