Staying at the Taj Gateway the we had dinner at Varuna which is considered fine dining, so making a reservation is highly recommended because it gets busy real quick and a lot of governmental officials dine here. For sharing and snacking they will serve you shrimp chips wth Spidey and tangy dipping sauce very addictive !! For the main course... More

The food in the thali was tasty but the ambience was average. The service was bad and nothing like the other Taj hotels. The order took close to 45 minutes, the waiters were surly, did not bother to serve the food. The Lucknowi biryani hardly had any meat. On bringing this to the waiter's notice he seemed unperturbed and said... More

The Taj Gateway is a little tired as a hotel but the Varuna restaurant made the evening there a delicious experience. It was some of the best Indian food we had on our entire trip. We order nukkar ka kukker (punjabi home style chicken curry- an old country chicken curry), lucknowi gosht biryani (lamb baked in a crock covered with... More

We were not staying at this hotel but had read good things about the restaurant so decided to have a night out and try it. Well worth the visit as both the service and food were excellent. They didnt even skip a beat when the lights went out. Welcome to India it happens even at the best Hotels and restaurants.

My wife and I ate in this restaurant on both nights of our stay in The Gateway. The service and food on the first night was superb however, our waiter Saroj arranged a meal for us on our second night that was truly wonderful although not on the menu. Masala lobster with tandoori baked local fish was divine and, despite... More

Best meal we at in all 5 weeks in India. Great selection and prices. The food was incredible. Never had better. Chef Ritesh was humble and gracious when we met him to thank him for our meal. A true star and gentleman.

This is a very fine restaurant, by far the best I have eaten in here in Indian and one of the best I have ever eaten in. The food is really exquisite. I had a selection of kebabs, chicken, lambs, fish which were superb. However the chef on his own initiative decided I needed something more with my plain Nan... More

we had dinner here, only because we were so tired and didn't want to try anywhere else. lonely planet said there was live sitar/tabla music --- which is no longer true--- and we were tempted by this. the formal restaurant is expensive and no one was seated there when we tried. so we went to the coffee shop/buffet restaurant and...
