A respite from the heat

A great little place that was friendly and cleanly. There are many great historical and local places, but if you need to neat the heat and heal your gut - this is the place to be.

This place was a kind of oasis, in the very middle of Varanasi. Almost every day of our stay in, our eighteen-people-group used to have, at least, a main meal there. Besides that, interesting indian-made products were exposed all over the place, filling our eyes of beautifull things to bring home as gifts. The owners and the working team were... More

The Open Hand cafe seems to attract primarily foreign tourists, as I was the only non- white customer both the times I visited ! However, the place has a welcoming vibe and a lot of warmth. Although the cafe's primary business is to, well, be a cafe (duh!), it also runs as an outlet for selling merchandise made by underprivileged... More

Had a really good breakfast here and came back for coffee later in the day. Lots of little rooms with tables & chairs, and friendly staff. Leave some time to browse around the various items for sale - you won't be hassled in any way. The quality of the workmanship is obvious and you know (from the detailed labels atached)... More

After a couple of weeks touring India, we found this little gem in Varanasi (at walking distance from Assi Ghat). It's a spotless quiet place where meet fellow travelers in a cosy environment in front of some good food. They use bottled water for everything, so food is really safe for westerners too. We came here for breakfast every day... More

I enjoyed my visits to Open Hands, their coffee is pretty great and come in huge mugs. I tried a caramel muffin on my last visit which was amazing! Their textile products are beautiful to look at but a bit expensive for my budget, I'm sure the quality is a lot better than the souvenirs I have bought elsewhere! It... More

Really friendly staff, who are eager to accommodate. We came here twice, and once I was in a rush to get to the airport and they made sure my food was ready quickly. The fresh milkshakes are delicious, and so are the muffins. The shop also has lovely things in it, many of which are supporting social causes. Definitely worth... More

The staff is friendly and it's a wonderful place to sit and relax in Assi Ghat, Their bakery is first rate and they sell cheese to take home with you.

This was our top choice for coffee in Varanesi. We liked everything about it -- the selection of coffees and food, the atmosphere, the decor, clean washrooms, nice employees, good prices, and good location. It was our favourite place for a mid-day rest with fresh coffee. The location is close to Asi Ghat. The prices for regular coffee was 70... More
