Not terrible but not great. We felt talked into spending more than we wanted to - very expensive for India. We ordered what was recommended and wish we ordered what we wanted instead. I think the food is adapted to Western tastes. We told them we like spicy but no chilli. Someone else in the restaurant was complaining it was... More

We are travelling with our children (7 and 9). Our tour guide recommended we try Ganga Fuji. It is a lovely little haven from the Varanasi streets. We are surprised to see the other negative reviews here. We don't mind paying a reasonable amount for a nice atmosphere and good quality food rather than risking our tummies with cheaper street... My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant after being given a flyer for it by someone on the street. When you walk inside, the walls are covered by handwritten praise for the food by tourists from all over the globe. After realizing how expensive the food was, we decided to order anyway because of all the rave reviews. The... More

Went there for lunch on our first day in Varanasi and were terribly disappointed. After having a theatrical blow by blow description of how the restaurant would prepare one of their more expensive dishes, we decided to go for it. We were incredibly disappointed - flavourless Paneer dish with 4 tiny cubes of Paneer in it and watery rice. After... More

The food here is very good despite the quite unremarkable interior. However, the flyers from every possible country of the world (I even found my own Latvia!) attract attention, every evening there is live music and the owner (and the main cook in one person) would explain how he is cooking all the different Indian food, making you want to... Got invited to this place by the waiter who was on the street (who told us they had live music but it was already over more than one hour ago). Anyway, we decided to have our dinner there convinced by all the international "reviews" hanging on the walls. The owner talked to us praising the food and describing all the... More

Unfortunately we only visited this restaurant on our last night otherwise we would have eaten there more often. We were given a lovely welcome and there was a vibrant atmosphere. It was evident that there were many regular customers. Kailash sat and talked us through the menu and we did go with some of his recommendations. Yes, the food is... More

I am not sure what people are complaining about on this blog! If you can find this place in the old city down the lanes near Hotel Alka then you'll be happy! Kailash who runs this place is great and his food is tasty and yes slightly more expensive than street food but on par and cheaper than other restaurants... More
