We visited on a friend's recommendation. Yummy Indian meal at great price. Nice rooftop setting and the only restaurant we visited with god views of the Ganges. They have accommodation below at the Rashmi Guest House. Rooms looked good and affordable, with pick up service (an a great restaurant in same place).

Nice service, great food, interesting view of Ganges River and an antique observatory. Get ready to go upstairs and enjoy the nice pictures on the wall on your way to the top.

We visited on the basis of the Lonely Planet recommendation. You would imagine a restaurant in India would serve decent Indian food, but my word this was so far off the mark it was laughable. We ordered vegetable jalfrezi and a vegetable pillau. The jalfrezi had chips (ie french fried potatoes) in it, and was flavoured with Chinese five spice,... More

Nice outdoor seating, very casual setting. Food was really special - we had a bunch of shared plates of north indian food. Service basically amounted to dropping the food on the table and leaving us alone until we were finished, which was perfect for an afternoon lunch. they had diet soda which nice to see as an american and is... Tasty food to be had here. You pay a little extra for the atmosphere, but we didn't mind that a bit. The potatoe-paneer-spinach-dumpling curry (don't remember the Indian name for it) was outstanding. Portions were slightly smaller than we're used to around here. And they ran our of kheer. But a great meal regardless.

Went to eat at this hotel restaurant after aarti. Recommended by our guide. Food mediocre at best, and the waiters were all surly and disinterested. But the worst was yet to come. We were promised someone to walk us back through the narrow streets to our hotel, but when we went to the hotel reception, we were offered a boat... More

We visited the Dolphin Restaurant three times for evening meals during our 7 day visit to Varanasi. The restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere, staff are friendly and service efficient. Food is served piping hot and beer, soft drinks and mineral water served very cold. We had several dishes all excellent quality hence our reason to return 3 times. Prices... More

This restaurant was recommended in Lonely Planet and unfortunately we made the mistake of going here. It's a long climb to the top with no elevator. it overlooks the Ganges. As lovers of Indian food, we were sorely disappointed. This was probably the worst meal we had in India. The lamb dish we ordered was full of fat and gristle,... More

Once you find the hotel, it is a steep climb to the roof - but the views over the Ghats are worth it. The food is good; nothing fancy, but tasty.

A roof top-restaurant with a great view over the Ganges river. The service is good, and the prices are fair. The food was never very bad or very good. Some of the portions are very small, which is no way to indicate before it is being served.
