This is cooking elevated to a fine art. No pretentions. No hype. Simply original and true to the rich tradition. Awadhi cuisine uses many spices but is not pungent. Instead you'll find it subtle, delicate and delightfully aromatic. Don't be surprised to find superb melt-in-the-mouth kebabs which originated from the kitchens of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah. Hours of gentle slow cooking after seasoning and marinating ensure that every ingredient cooks in its own juices. Surrender to the gentle kababs, especially the Kakori and Galavat. Suck shamelessly on the lamb bone marrow in Nahari Ghosht. See how hours of massaging dough with clarified butter makes for the finest Sheermal and Warki Paratha. And you've got to have very firm resolve to resist the Chef's original dessert - Sevian ka Muzafar (An affair with vermicelli). The piece de resistance is of course the Shahi Tukra. The jhaar-phanus (crystal chandeliers) and the traditional artifacts will take you back the courts of the Nawabs (muslim rulers). We strongly recommend you book your table well in advance. Cuisine type: Awadhi and North Indian Hours: Lunch: 12.30 p.m. to 02.45 p.m. Dinner: 07.30 p.m. to 11.30 p.m.Reservation: Strongly recommended Attire: Smart Casual

Food is good

The ambience is excellent, the staffs are very friendly and polite, but the food is not very special especially the non-veg dishes, there is lot of space to upgrade the taste of dishes, I think something is missing when we compare with other food joints serving Oudhyana food.

We are regular visitors to this restaurant, however our visit of April 19, 2015 has left a terrible experience of this restaurant. We had ordered 'Nahari Gosht' and 'butter chicken'. The food was stale, bland and half cooked. Although the service was good, but quality of food was pathetic. Recently they have put restrictions on choice of menu also and... More

This restaurant gives you the great food of Lucknow in a nice classy environment. The problem with eating authentic fare in Lucknow is that it is available in the old city in non air conditioned environments which are not always clean. The food in this restaurant is toned down in its authenticity but is comparable. The service is good. I... More

Their kebabs and dum mutton biryani were very good. Being at the best hotel in town attracts a "different" clientele, and reservations are recommended. Service was fast and good.

Being foodies, I travelled with my wife to Lucknow just to binge on the Avadi cuisine. And that's what we did for three out of four days at Oudhyana. One day away from Oudhyana was enough to convince us of it's culinary skills par excellence. The food elsewhere does not even remotely measures up to what is served here. Every... More

For those of you who are in for a fine dining experience, you will be extremely disappointed I was here for lunch with a friend. We ordered appetizers and two main course dishes. After good 45 minute wait from the time appetizers were served, one main course dish was served and when we inquired about the second main course, the... More

Well I can understand it is a fine dining restaurant and among one of the Taj Hotel Restaurant still I felt a little overprice for the Food. No doubt the Food tasted good, the Nihari and the Warki paraths I enjoyed with Gilouti and Kakori. With a little Biryani but at the same time the Portion I felt could have... More

I was here for a conference lunch and all I can say that this place lacks the 5 starry appeal or they are too snobbish as the only 5 star hotel in Lucknow. This was my second visit to the hotel for a conference and I must say that I have never had worse food and service in a culinary... More

We were visiting Lucknow on a food exploratory trip, and I have to admit that we had some of the finest meals at Oundhyana. We had the Awadhi biryani, the galouti kebabs, the sheermal and a few other Awadhi delicacies and each dish was outstanding. In fact the aroma of the food as it is gets served is magical, especially... More

The food served in the restaurant is typical from Lucknow Avadhi style. We enjoyed varieties of Avadhi style cooked food. It was tempting and delicious.
