RESTAURANT REVIEW — SAVAGE GARDEN IN UDAIPUR

When it comes to restaurants in Udaipur, one place stands apart – it’s not famous for Laal Maas or local delicacies, nor is it Lake facing. Yet, it is one of the most recommended places with a fairly unusual name — ‘Savage Garden’. Located in the old city close to Bagore Ki Haveli (a popular... read more

The place is in a small bylane away from the main action and in the residential area...the lane stinks of dirt and fresh cow patties....the approach of the place inside is awkward too with old rocky walls and simplistic wrought iron tables and chairs...there is no view ofcourse as its in a house.....the food is decent....international cuisine....but the service is... The food at Savage Garden overall meets your expectations in terms of presentation and taste but don't expect anything out of the world experience. The food is alright. They make their own pastas, which is brilliant. The ambiance is just mind blowing. Beautiful place to have a meal in peace. Located inside a super narrow street, this gem of a... More

Highly rated on certain travel based food shows, went there with high expectations, kept finding it, kept finding it....... atlast located it in a pagdandi(narrow lane), which no one knows exists, no proper address, found it... On a weekday, at 9 PM we were their only guests. Alas, so much for the bonhomie and the ambience, though the interiors were... More

Went there in the afternoon after a long day of travel and sightseeing! Interiors were quite interesting. Could only see one server, whom it was difficult to trace to place an order. Food was quite decent but in my opinion it was overpriced!

I had read a lot about this place on lonely planet and frommers, but unfortunately it didnt live upto the expectations. The place is good, very cutely done up. The food is prepared well but lacked in taste, even by the continental standards.

It was a late Tuesday afternoon and most cafes/restaurants were already shut or dusting down business. From other reviews and TV shows we reached Savage Garden, it's a little tucked in by Chand Pole. However, the hunt was worth it. High on aesthetics and decor, it impresses at first sight. We ordered two kinds of pasta. Both were filling and... More

What a fantastic place, This restaurant is definitely worth tracking down! The restaurant is sign posted very well and not hard to find off the main road in the northern part of the old city. When I first walked in, I was was impressed by the outdoor seating area, great vines of flowers hanging onto the patio, it's beautiful. I... More

The Savage Garden, in spite of the several large signs which lead you to it, is hidden away up a narrow alleyway. Entering the ground floor, don't be discouraged by the sight of the plain, uninviting tables and uncomfortable-looking chairs. The food is very good. The owner is European (German I believe) and the menu has both Indian and "continental"... More
