Spartan entrance, very good food

The Savage Garden, in spite of the several large signs which lead you to it, is hidden away up a narrow alleyway. Entering the ground floor, don't be discouraged by the sight of the plain, uninviting tables and uncomfortable-looking chairs. The food is very good. The owner is European (German I... read more

What a fantastic place, This restaurant is definitely worth tracking down! The restaurant is sign posted very well and not hard to find off the main road in the northern part of the old city. When I first walked in, I was was impressed by the outdoor seating area, great vines of flowers hanging onto the patio, it's beautiful. I... More

The place looked a bit shady from at the entrance, tucked away in a very narrow street. Seating at the 1st floor is comfortable though. We were a little skeptical when we saw the place but had heard a lot about the food from our driver and boy was he righT, excellent preparation. We had ordered 3 dishes and a... More

Imfirst visited this place my last time in Udaipur about four or five years ago. Menu is mostly the same but now has some additional items. Too bad the quality has gone down so much since last time. I would love to love this place again, but the so called Parmesan cheese is a stinky substitute te, pasta was mushy... More

We went to this restaurant because it was recommended to us. But frankly speaking, it was a let down and I would personally not recommend it. The food was OK and overall ambience was earthy(ish). But somehow there was no feel good factor here. Maybe it was because of service or because of bland(ish) food on the menu. To sum... More

Its a small establishment, run by a German. Maybe that is the reason why it advertised by TripAdvisor and also Highway on My Plate! Overall it was more of a disappointment, not because of taste, because it was decent... It was more because of the quantity of the food and prices attached to it! Also the service was very delayed... I absolutely loved this cute restaurant, tucked away in an alley of Udaipur. With beautiful flowers hanging from the roof it has a really romantic and summery athmosphere. And the food... Just amazing! We had the chicken Wajid and the aubergine tomato olive dish, and both were beyond amazing! It's definitely the best food we had on our trip so... More

This lovely restaurant is in a quiet street with a lovely terrace with bougainville. You can ask for directions at cafe edelweiss, which has the same owner. We had aubergine and tomato on cinnamon rice and the sinature chicken dish. Both were delicious!

Near the red bridge (lal ghat) hides this gem. A beautifully decorated patio with amazing eggplant dishes. I had the caponata. It was delicious. Comparable to the Italian dish, with the touch of the east changing capers for raisins. The potato basket could have been crisper, but the taste of the veggies compensated. I'm coming back for the chicken, they... More

This is a great place to go while in Udaipur. The setting is lovely and off the beaten path. It's worth the walk to get there to see the haveli and the wonderful way in which they've maintained it. The service was great and the food was delicious.
