I never been to Calcutta City but heard so much about the food :) . Glad that Oh Calcutta is serving some authentic Bengali food . The Basa fish is a must try ,we had Raw mango juice with Vodka - very smooth and well prepared . The mishti dahi {Sweet Curd ] is one more must eat :)
I always make it a point to visit Oh Calcutta if there is one in that city when you are traveling in India...I am amazing by the consistency of their kitchen wherever you go...
you can just blindfold yourself and take a finger point at the menu and you got yourself a great dish...very friendly and very helpful staff even...

The ambiance is very classy. Try the Hilsa curry. Its toooooo gooood. when I visited a second time I tried the Rohu which was not cooked properly. So I would sticking to Hilsa as its a specialty of Calcutta.

Myself mostly veg could not really enjoy it...ordered for luchi and posto turai veg... Found it to be ordinary...

I may not have authority on Bengali food but after few trips to Kolkata I became a HUGE (and its a big HUGE) fan of Bengali Machhar Jhol and sweets among others. And let me tell you that I have had Goan, Malvani, Manglorian and Chettinad fish curries before.
So Oh Calcutta! is how I quench my desire in Pune....

My visit was during the Hilsa festival at Oh Calcutta! I somehow didn like Hilsa but ate other deliacies involving sea food n they were yumm! I had an upset stomach the day.I didnt go again though my husband enjoys the food.I will go later maybe someday ever.
