Service may be slow at times, but it is friendly, the menu is the most extensive i have seen for veg indian food in varkala and most importantly the food is excellent. It is hard to get really good indian food in varkala (unless you go into town), but here it is great. Cover up though, because there are some... More

This place served fantastic South Indian food at great prices. I somehow managed to get invited to a cookery class that a fellow traveller had talked the staff into organising. The staff gave us a masterclass in south Indian food. It was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my time in Kerala. I don't think they normally do these... More

This vegetarian restaurant did the best dinner we ate in Varkala. Although the restaurant had only the most basic furniture, looked quite ordinary, and is just a bit out of the way (by the helipad), it was friendly and the food was excellent and cheap. If you ask for a vegetable cutlet for a starter be warned, it is big... More

Don't be put off by the parking lot in front of the restaurant---it kind of adds to the funky charm of the place. The food is very good and the owner is a kind man who gave us lots of terrific "must eat" suggestions.

We went for lunch as our Lonely Planet (2012) guide suggested it was good value, "with mains from Rs 35". Prices must have gone up recently - cheapest is around Rs 80! However, this seems to put it in line with the other establishments along the north cliff, and the food was tasty and good size portions (although our "large... More

We visited the restaurant for dinner and lunch the following day. Food (Chinese) was quite good but their Thali was average. They also seemed to be understaffed.

Oottupura's food tastes good and is cheap at the same time. Not always you find that kombination :-) The meny is a bit hard to understand, but they are happy to answer all your questions. I've been there twice and it was really good, both times.

We went to this place as this is the only pure vegetarian outlet. But have loads of time/patience. Service is very slow but you won't repent waiting once food arrivs. Its all freshly prepared and tastes yummy! First day we waited for about 40 minutes being the only customer(Group of 6).Their chappatis are super soft and subjis are super tasty.... More
