With MTR simple flavors done well, you get what you get, but you enjoy every bit of it!

MTR is not a restaurant, it is a historical landmark. How do you write a review for what resembles "mom's kitchen"? You take what you get and you enjoy it. You go again for better luck. Brilliant Food, each time. This time reached there around 2 & they denied the usual Dosa Idli (as that is served after 3). They served the Thali, in which most of dishes were the 1st timers for me. But again these, were awesome !! My Bangalore trip is incomplete without an MTR meal !

I was born here in South India and have been eating this style of food until i emigrated to the west. Dining at MTR could be the best welcome home thing could ever happen whenever i visit Bangalore. This used to be a showpiece place for tiffin and people used to queue up to get special Ghee roast upuma etc.Has since gone down a lot ,to the extent that it has become a regular and standardised restaurant, just like any other in Bangalore. The usual bise bele and south Indian snacks are there, coupled with north Indian cuisine.Good place, but the niche... MTR is one of the legendary restaurants in Bangalore and very famous for its rava idli (which was invented by MTR during the emergency) and the famous masala dosa. But the lunch was highly disappointing. Priced at 220, it is a big let down. It is ONLY meant for those who have never tasted authentic south indian food or eaten... More

One of the oldest food joint I would say in Bangalore, Now they do have couple of branches in JP Nagar, Indiranagar etc., Speciality is the south indian food, try Rava Idli, Poori or Dosa which is different from the normal food you get in Darshini's. Do not forget the Chandra Hara if you are there on a Sunday.
