Mavalli Tiffin Room is famous for it's breakfast. The Upma, Masala Dosa and Medu vada sambar are excellent to taste. It's must taste breakfast restaurant for any visitor or tourist in the city of Bangalore.

Whenever I return to my hometown in Bangalore, I arrange to have breakfast with friends at MTR. This is a Bangalore institution that service classic Karnatak cuisine. I enjoy lining up with the locals, giving my name to the maître de, sitting in the waiting room with local Bangaloreans, for my turn to be invited to take a seat at... More

I spent two weeks in Karnataka and this was the standout eating experience for me. Very informal, good fun and LOTS of food! Seriously, they just keep coming back with more and more. Come with an empty stomach. Well worth the money.

The location of the hotel is fantastic, located right downtown. The young girls working the front desk can't answer half of your questions about the island. Also, you're not allowed to bring friends over into your room. Absolutely ridiculous rules and if you question them they will tell you to "feel free to check out".

If you are near Lalbagh, visit this old landmark restaurant for Masala Dosa. You will relish the taste and the service. Main problem is the parking as the restaurant is located on the busy road. You will have to park at a far-off distance. You can try rava idli and also plain dosa. Coffee is fantastic.

This is one of the oldest restaurants in Bangalore offering the original & authentic taste of South Indian dishes. You may try the Rava Idly and dosas which are accompanied with varieties of chutneys. The restaurant is very basic in terms of facilities and is still housed in the same old building where it started more than 90 years ago,... More

This place is a must visit if you are in search for places that have been "iconic" in Bangalore. Typical south Indian vegetarian affair. Lunch hours are quite busy and you might have to stand in queue to taste their thali. It is quite worth the wait. This place looks like the old style eating joints, but is neat and... More

Had been to MTR at Lalbagh after a gap of few years. This time tried thali. Priced very reasonable, food was enjoyable. Generally everything was good including paan. Being Saturday there was heavy rush and had to wait for almost for 50 minutes, though were told that we will get place in 15 minutes. The waiters would speak only Kannada... More
