The place is more endearing for its 'old time' charm than really its food...yes the food is traditional but its definitely not unbelievably great but still to get a taste of Bangalore you must visit MTR once! Ensure that you reach well ahead of time as the waiting time is unimaginable!

I have been to MTR twice till date, once at LalBagh, and recently at Indira Nagar. The food was authentic - the best Masala Dosa atleast in Bangalore, they serve it with ghee! The coffee is also very good. The MTR at LalBagh is ofcourse the older and more famous, having retained some of its old world charm, and it... More

We went to the MTR in St Marks road. It isn't The original but you don't have to wait and the food is the same. You should look it up on a map before you go as it is down a side road and not easily visible. The food was, quite simply, delicious! One of the best meals I have... More

A trip to Bangalore is never complete if you dont visit MTR! Walking into MTR is like going back into history. Established in 1924,Mavalli Tiffin Rooms has retained the original essence. After a good walk in Lalbagh Botanical Garden, we decided to try tiffin items (south indian snacks) in the evening at 6 pm. We were very lucky as we... More

I last visited MTR more than 4 years back, however I could not stop myself from writing review because I believe it must be the same. I remember queuing-up with friend @ 8 P.M. to book a slot for dinner. And if luck shone, we would sit in one of the "Tiffin Rooms" and enjoy the endless array of dishes,... More

Having heard a lot of good words about MTR, I was very happy when I finally got a chance to visit this restaurant in person. Located right across from Lalbagh Botanical Garden, it is difficult to find a parking space. The building is very old with plastic chairs and non-existent decor. We had to pass through a maze of rooms... More

I happen to visit this place once in a quarter. As always I have liked their upma, rava idly and coffee. I liked their old styled ambience too. Given the location, I think it is good value for money too.

I visited this place for a lunch along with colleagues on a weekday. Most of us being from south of India, we liked the food very much. Pros: Unlimited Masala Dosas ;-) Home like food taste without too much spices. Best place to get tasty rice and sambar. Reasonable cost. Traditional food and traditional feel. Cons: Too crowded. Ambiance not... More

While staying in nearby hotel with forgettable restaurant, we chose to dine at renowned MTR. It opens only uptill 8:30, so we have to run and reach just around 8. Luckily we managed to enter and while asking for menu.....a big No. When asked for the option, nothing again but only Masala Dosa and Puri Saagu.....thats it. So we ordered... More
