Description: 'Agashiye' in Gujarati means on the terrace. This beautiful restaurant is spread over two huge terraces are inter-connected by a smaller one that houses a small wooden cottage. At Agashiye, the food is freshly prepared, a lot of it in the terrace kitchen where you can see it. Our attempt is to retain the distinct flavours of the ingredients and we use both spices and oil sparingly. The menu at Agashiye changes daily and varies seasonally too, so an item that you particularly liked during a previous visit may not be there on the menu. Though we hope you'd find another favourite! The staff at Agashiye comprises mostly of men from neighboring villages. During dinner, they will guide you to the waiting area where you will be served juice and starters. You will be informed when your table is ready. During lunch, you are seated at your table right away. The food is served in a kansa thali immediately on being seated at the table. The meal starts with a choice of Indian breads and ends with rice. Servings are unlimited. The staff has been instructed not to constantly hover around you and yet be attentive. In case you have a specific requirement, a supervisor will be there to assist you. Please don't be surprised if you are served a non-Gujarati dish or hear non-Indian music at Agashiye. It is neither an ethnic nor a theme restaurant. It is meant to be a dining experience in a contemporary Gujarati home.Agashiye can be booked for parties of up to 400 people with a buffet setting.

Just two limited starters...with dhokla not as soft as in a neighbourhood store...daal kachori was hot and good. Food ok...as expected...nothing WOW...average taste.....priced on higher side. Starters in a big hall and the asked to move to open terrace for dinner...view was nice....could not replace memories of unlimited thali restaurants around Ashram Road which are long gone.... A visitor to Ahmedabad who is interested in savouring ethnic Gujarati menu , with good ambient surroundings, then Agashiye is the place. It is located in the old downtown area, housed in a traditional haveli type building. But once you are inside, it is equipped with all modern amenities. Food is good. and so is the service.

The food is of excellent quality and variety. You are sure to land up over eating but the food would definitely not trouble your stomach. The taste is slightly bland due to which children used to spicy food may not enjoy it as much. But this is indeed its high point and should not be sacrificed.

This is certainly an experience, the food is well served and good but if you are a novice at this type of Indian dining it can be a bit of a challenge. There is a leaflet giving details which is helpful but perhaps a chat and some interaction from the staff might make it a bit easier for overseas guests.... More

The rooftop restaurant Agashiye in House of MG serves Gujarati veggie Thali in an elegant setting with professional service. It is very expensive by indian standard. We had the deluxe version and were disappointed. Food was served at a very fast speed without explanations. It would be good to read the restaurant's pamphlet beforehand if you plan to give it... Being gujarati myself, I am quite averse to gujarati thali due to the liberal use of jaggery in the various dishes as it's not to my liking. Keeping this mind, Agashiye has done well to keep the jaggery to the minimum. Yet, there was enough that could be noticed. The service is quite good. The starters are served @ one... More

One of the best ambience in Ahmedabad. The food served is excellent gujarati-marwadi food. Served in a Rajwadi style. Visit once, you would love it.

We had to attend social function and hence arrived at Agashiye. Initially the location of hotel right in walled city area made me dislike at the face-value since the area is very crowded and suffers from lack of parking spaces. However, to my amazement, the hotel offers a valet service which takes your vehicle and parks it at hotel designated... More
