Enjoyable Meal in a nice setting

We enjoyed an excellent business dinner. I had the Meka ( Swordfish) and Creme Brûlée which were both excellent.

The Blue Banana sits on the lagoon surrounding Papeete and has a great ambience and menu selection. The local fish dishes are excellent as are the local shrimp dishes which are succulent and tasty. There is a good selection of dishes from classically French to more Polynesian tastes. The wine list is small but contains a good selection of predominantly... More

we were staying at the Manava Resort and had been told that there was a restaurant about 5 mins up the road by another couple, so decided to try it out. when we got there we were told that the kitchen opened at 7pm but we could sit at a table and have a drink if we wanted to and... More

This restaurant happened to be located walking distance from our resort. We funnily enough walked there one day to see what it was like just for a cocktail and after seeing it made a reservation for dinner that night. The experience, ambience, food, wine was simply amazing served by a lovely waitress who could speak ok English who even tried... More

Good food. I had read a review talking about their ability to speak English. We weren't so sure about that but finally we got a waitress who was able to tell us what was on the specials. The specials are carried around on this huge board so there are usually several. The wine was the most reasonably priced of our... More

For those of you unaware, Tahitian restaurants are expensive and generally hard to get to. Thankfully we were staying at the Manava, which was a short 7 minute walk away. Luckily the owners were generous in accommodating our early arrival (they don't open until 7:00). They allowed us to sit with a beer on the deck which made for a... More

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals there. So much so, that we went twice. We were blown away by the quality, affordability, and atmosphere. They have a great menu and specialties every day. It was very close to the Meridian where we stayed. The burgers, shrimp, beef and seafood were outstanding.

I went to the blue banana with 2 other friends and the service was pretty much good throughout the dinner. We order the curry Mahi Mahi and Salmon and both were delicious. The owner came by the table to greet us and she was very nice.

This is a restaurant, where you can be among the locals, and enjoy their cuisine. Reservations recommended, as it is very popular. Ask to seated on the Pontoon. This is really a pier, with tables along the sides and two large tables, lower on the water, at the end. They have mostly fish, sometimes prepared different to USA tastes. They... More
