This place is not the old town restaurant but a place called Abu Ali. It is a take away and cafe. As you come down the long hill into old town stay on the left and its on a corner. It is used mainly by egyptians and taxi drivers,we were the only english. Really good food and spotless, very good... More

El Masrien has great atmosphere and excellent value for money food. We really enjoyed the food. Staff were fantastic. We loved the salad. We visited the place 6 out of 8 days we were there and was great savings on food for us. Try it you will love it I assure you.

We went to the Old Town market, this is unfortunately under a lot of pressure at present due to the lack of tourists. The traders are only trying to make a living but they show this by hastelling you to bits. You cannot slow down to look at anything because if you do all you can see is a shop... More

I loved it and could have spent hours there if it wasn't for my nagging husband who has a shopping phobia ;) I thought it was a lot better than Naama Bay and definitely better for shopping. Its a lot better in the evening so a great place to head to after dinner.

Here the prices are much better than any were if you want to buy any clothes or gifts and there are also a few good seafood restuarants.

I liked the old town as it reminded me of my trip to Marrakech. There is a restaurant recommended by a number of Egyptians I got talking to - El Masrien. I can see why they visit there. Delicious Egyptian food.
