BEST FINE DINING IN AVALON

Café Loren, redesigned in appearance after Sandy, is a wonderful spot to dine in Avalon. The food quality is superb. Of course, it is Avalon, so it's a bit pricey, but one can't do better, especially for special occasions.

We love Cafe Loren, and we always go at least once every time we're in Avalon. It's a BYOB, which is great. And the menu is creative, yet traditional. The food is always delicious; you really can't go wrong! The decor was recently updated after Hurricane Sandy, but it still feels a little dated inside. But, don't let that fool... More

There are many reasons Cafe Loren has been at the top of the fine dining scene in Southern NJ so long:.Excellence in ingredients, preparation and a staff who obviously takes pride in their affiliation with such a notable establishment. Whether you order grilled lobster or braised short ribs with roasted peaches, expect to be impressed. The halibut with pancetta was... More

My wife and I enjoyed a great meal last week. We shared the clams and chorizo which we enjoyed (recommended by people leaving the restaurant). I enjoyed the spinach and arugula salad and then had the Veal Loren - a fantastic combination of veal medallions, lump crab meat in a cream sauce. My wife loved the blueberry short ribs over... We always enjoy our trips to Avalon, and one of the highlights every year is returning for fine dining at the Cafe Loren. A member of our group has Celiac disease and must be strictly gluten free. This year the cuisine was outstanding as always, but the knowledge of the waiters and staff about gluten free options and handling of... More

An amazing difference once you enter the restaurant as compared to their modest entrance door next to Avalon Freeze. Great ambiance and excellent dining and service. The Jersey Tomato Salad is why we come to New Jersey in the summer and every restaurant in Jersey should offer it. The steamed clams were among the best we've had and the veal... More

Have walked pass Cafe Loren in Avalon for years during the day and it was always closed. This year while sitting outside waiting for my wife that was shopping, I looked up the Resturant on the web. Liked what I read and made reservations. The Resturant from the outside is very unassuming, however when we entered, we were taken back... More

Avalon hosts several excellent Fine Dining establishments. Although it's small this Jem eliminates the noisy atmosphere, hustling wait staff, clattering bus staff and confusing menus. The chef is also the owner and for over 20 years we have made this our go to special place. Seafood, superb salads, and excellent veal and other meat dishes are a treat to anyone's... More

We had a lovely dinner in a small restaurant in the center of Avalon. The food was excellent and the service perfect. While somewhat expensive (average entree $35-40), this was offset by the fact that it is BYOB. There was a sophisticated ambience; people dressed in smart casual (most restaurants in Avalon are shorts and flip flops for dinner). We... More
