Description: The Bookworm Suzhou is at once café, bookstore, restaurant, library, bar, comedy club, and live music venue; truly a central cultural hub of the great city of Suzhou, and one of the most classic expat-operated venues in town.Located just off the famous ShiQuanJie street downtown (just by the PingQiaoZhiJie intersection), it plays host to delicious foods, drinks, and activities both local and from around the world. Head down anytime, be it for a proper cup of coffee and a sandwich, a cold beer and some laughs, a bit of sun out on the patio, or to check out one of the many cool weekly events that keep this cultural heart beating.

We spent a long weekend in Suzhou and found ourselves in The Bookworm often. The atmosphere is very relaxed, the beer cold and the staff very friendly. The food was excellent and there is an extensive cocktail list. If you are visiting Suzhou I thoroughly recommend visiting The Bookwork to relax and experience the East meets West atmosphere.

A perfect combination of the East & West. Food is great, price is good. Shows , you don't wanna miss a single one ! Also a lovely place to do some reading during the trip. In a nutshell, this place makes you feel like home.

When I first arrived in Suzhou I was told about The Bookworm, and that I had to visit it. They claimed it to be a little haven within the crazy buzzing Chinese old town. They were right. The Bookworm is a very casual relaxing retreat, and it actually doesn't matter what it's meant to be, whether that be a cafe,... More

Went there twice while visiting friends. Beer was reasonably priced and cold. You go to bar for service, did not see any servers. Bar service was fast enough. Was clearly a popular place for expats mostly an expat crowd on both visits. There was a music festival with local bands on the second visit. The place was packed. They were... More

Went to this place last night and I have to say I was really impressed. When you're travelling or working away from home for a while, this is a nice place to go chill, have a few beers and sit in a very comfortable relaxed atmosphere. The menu was really good and very reasonably priced, the food was top notch... More

The Bookworm is a very individual place like no other in SuZhou. There is always a mixed crowd in there unlike some of the other expat haunts. Good food, good drinks, great staff and usually a nice bunch of customers.

The Bookworm is a cute little cafe/restaurant/bar not to far from anything in Suzhou. I took a taxi from the train station and it was about 40 RMB. The sandwich I got was nice and very reasonably priced. The beer wasn't to expensive either. The decor was perfect for the winter months. Very dark colors and low ceilings. It felt... More

I really like the Bookworm, and have been a number of times. I love their hummus appetizer. My friends like their spring rolls, and salads. I have had some excellent pasta, and good pizza too. Each time I was there, there was a Western supervisor there, very friendly and willing to give recommendations. You can go to the Surging Waves... More

kind of disappointed with others reviews. thought I would find something tasty and good to eat but it's more like a chinese version of american food rather than real american food. even their smoothies, they can't do it right. i ordered the choco banana. All you need to add is some ice, some yogurt, chocolate syrup and banana and blend... More

Hey there, Bookworm manager here, I'm sorry to hear that you didn't have a great experience the last time you came here, and while I hadn't taken over managing yet at that time, I still would love to treat you to a free pizza and banana milkshake anytime you would like to come and try one again; it will hopefully...
