I visited John's during Xiamen stone fair so only buffet was available. Food was great. Selection of veg and nonveg. As soon as I entered I was greeted by John himself and right-away welcome drink (grappa) was presented. That day was quite cold and rainy so grappa went down smoothly! Service was very quick and responsive. After the dinner John... More

I spent 4 days in Xiamen and had to go twice, first I was missing Indian food and here i found the best, even compared to many other Indian restaurants from other cities. It was a discovery of flavors, presentation and service. Good selection of wines and beers, difficult to get in many other places, I was really impressed. The... More

A must visit for any curry fan who finds themselves in Xiamen. Great food and John takes a personal and enthusiastic interest in his customers and what they serve up, which makes for a great overall experience.

The food and service was good, but, if you are going to charge 50+RMB for Chicken Curry, you better include some "normal rice" with an option to upgrade. 20-25RMB to add some white rice to your curry will leave a sore spot with many customers. Could be the most expensive rice in China...perhaps the world.

One guideline by which I judge any city is what kind of Indian food it has to offer. By this standard, Xiamen shines. Indiano John's has super ambiance, friendly service, and the food is gob-smacking good. I agree with Richard C: go for dinner AND the experience. If you're lucky, as we were, about halfway through dinner the man himself... More

visited Indiano John's last night based on all the reviews on this site and was absolutely amazed by the quality of food, service, and overall ambience in the restaurant. We enjoyed the appetizer plate with the most authentic spread of chutneys I've had in a long time and it complemented the food food perfectly. Then for our main course we... More
