Good french cuisine, but smoking restaurant!

We went with several friends, had a pre-determined menu with choices for the entrees, main and desert. The food was really good, the desert maybe slightly too sweet for my tastebuds... The manager was very nice and courteous. The service good. The decoration pleasant .. And then people started... read more

Nice place with private dining facility on first floor. Good appetizers, buffet varied and of good quality and great desserts (ile flotantes and macarons!). Nice wines.

Had a very convivial and long lunch with a great business friend, Danny la Troch. Superb food and attention from the Proprietor, a very knowledgable Frenchman and suggested a superb white wine. I blow hold and cold with this place as sometimes the food isn't quite so good. Great venue for the 6 Nations Rugby for la muse bouche, beer... More

The food is okay, and excellent wine choice The owner is very friendly, so are the staff. In total, we were there 10 times in 2 years. From my point of view, the resturant is over-rated, because the food quality does often nor keep up with the price. But in general, fish is excellent, and probably, the better choice than... More

We were a group of 10 for a business dinner. Service was prompt and attentive. Food was okay on a global standard, but good for Douala. Wine list was not extensive, but several worthwhile French white and red selections.

I'd have to say the best meal i've had in Douala to date. I'm still haunted by the Moelleux au chocolat (molten chocolate lava cake). There was a lot of options on the plat du jour (special) and the entire meal was excellent, not counting my boss trying fresh, raw oysters for the first time and gagging (that was so... More

The restaurant is really good and therefore very expensive. The food is fresh, well prepared and well presented. It's definitely a treat worth getting if it falls within your budget

...L'Ovalie is most refreshing. Located in quartier Bonapriso, L'Ovalie has a solid menu, and a most attentive staff. The wine selection is good -- not great -- favoring Bordeaux, but it has a well-stocked bar, more so than other Douala establishments. The food is always good. Again, not great, but the aim of the restaurant seems to be "adventure within... More

As always a culinary delight with wonderful service by the friendly staff, very friendly and informative chef/patron. A delight in Douala, do not listen when people say it is expensive, you pay for what you get and can eat eat with wine for less than 50,000 CFA per head which is in line with European restaurants of this standard.
