The four courses Virgil cooked for us were well balanced, a wonderful combination of flavours and textures. Not to be missed.

We tried this restaurant once, because we stayed in the resort. The food was really good and we ended up eating there almost every night of our stay in Siem reap. The cook who is also the owner of the resort is inspired by Asian and western cuisine. His meals are really unique and excellent. The place might be hard... More

Along with Abacus, this earns top marks among Siem Reap's many restaurants. This may seem somewhat ironic, as one reviewer actually compares The Cockatoo unfavorably with Abacus. Actually they're both excellent, in completely different ways. Whereas the French cuisine at Abacus is prepared by a seasoned chef, the food here is a completely personal creation of Virgil, who is not... More

The restaurant is located in the Bed and Breakfast of the same name. Virgil, the chef, has a printed menu. Most likely than not, however, you can discuss with him what you feel like eating, and he'll fix it with you! His Salade Nicoise (which could have fed 4) was a life saver after a day spent in the sun... More

We spent nearly 3 weeks in Siem Reap and got a good overview regarding the restaurant scene including the famed Abacas (which was very good). Luckily we choose The Cockatoo as our base for exploring the area and found out that it is not only a phantastic place to stay., but also serves the best food in town. Virgils 3-Course-Menu... More

I wish I could say the same as my previous reviewers but actually I found the Cockatoo to be an unpleasant dining experience, the food was average compared to some of the other places in the town such as Abacus (where the food was magnificent) and the service lacked any real quality. I was disappointed indeed and hope that this... More
