My wife and I visited this place after a hike for a beautiful view of Squam Lake and the lakes and mountains region of NH. This is the original spot of a now fairly large group of Common Mans in NH. The facility is quaint and comfortable. We were promptly greeted and shown to a table by the windows. Our... More

My family of 5 ate here for dinner on a family recommendation. The entrees were very hit or miss. Mybson had the cod and it was fantastic, as was the lobster chowder. The crab cakes were a mushy, cartilage filled mess. The sides of rice pilaf and corn were also mediocre. The bread basket and salad were delicious. I am... More

The common man has a very good reputation in New England. The one in Ashland has been there for a long time, and has an atmosphere that makes you feel like your dining with the original pilgrims. It is in my opinion a landmark. We went for an early bird dinner where entrees are half size and half price. Since... More

We stayed overnight in Ashland by chance and this restaurant was recommended to us. We are so happy it was! It was an interesting building and decor and the menu had so many choices. Our server - Nicole - was very attentive and a great help in meal choices. We split the butternut squash raviolis with bacon and cranberries and... More

We went on the recommendation of a friend and actually texted him during dinner to thank him. We split the mussel appetizer which was ample and outstanding. The broth was complex and ate like a soup. My wife had the plymouth pie, a seafood casserole which she said was excellent. I had the surf and turf which consisted of a... More

Having spent over 32 years on Squam Lake-we never had an opportunity to have a meal at the original Common Man! Retirement has allowed us to enjoy all the pleasures and lunch was one of them. It was an extremely warm and humid day and time for some cool air conditioning and home cooked food. I had an appetizer of... More

We dined at the Common Man on July 3rd, 2014. My wife, two kids, in-laws & myself had a reservation. We started with the lobster sliders, steamed mussels and lobster wontons for appetizers. All were done very well. For dinners we had kids hamburgers, lobster mac n cheese, steamed tofu and captains platters. Everyone was happy with their choices. Smuttynose... More

I'm from SF which has some of the best restaurants in the world, and the Common Man would hold its own among them. When I'm at home, I dream about the bread pudding, and it's one of the first places I head for when I get here! The spa in Plymouth is great, too!

Group of eight. Sat us right away and service was perfect. Restaurant is nice, upstairs bar is a comfy fun setting. We ate downstairs first then went up to the bar after. My only complaint is the food is awful! Both my wife and I got the braised short ribs. Honestly I think A frozen rib microwave dinner would have... More
