Their tag line is something about making everything from scratch--and they really do, ketchup included. Lunch began with a little load of homemade wheat bread with walnuts--lovely. Our group of three had chicken pot pie, burger, and clam chowder. Everything was very tasty. Only disappointment was the pear-cranberry-cider. Very watery. Service was excellent. Prices are reasonable. Definitely plan to go... More

Food is overpriced. Would not go back. They do have a good bakery, put that is also pricey. Not worth it in my opinion

It is rare these days to go somewhere over an extended period and not have a negative experience. Such is the case with Black Forest Cafe and Bakery. They have a menu that changes seasonally with something for everyone. All ingredients are fresh and are prepared and presented well. The atmosphere in the restaurant is friendly, yet quiet, allowing you... More

We have visited The Black Forest three times within the past two years while traveling through New Hampshire. Each visit was memorable because the food is truly "to die for", from the bread to the dessert. We were fortunate to eat there yesterday for a late lunch. I ordered the Autumn Harvest Pasta and hubby had the New England Grilled... More

Enjoyed a great lunch today at the Black Forest Restaurant. Service and atmosphere were good, but the real highlight was the food. My two fish tacos were a tad messy to eat, but they were ohhhh so delicious. The flavours just exploded in my mouth. The New England Chowder, although not very heavy on the clams was very flavourful with... More

My wife & I went for dinner recently and were very pleased with our experience there. The exterior is unassuming but neat. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Their own home baked bread served as we sat down was simply delicious. We were impressed with the menu - local foods prepared creatively. Our dinners were both excellent. The bottled... More

Great spot for a Friday night date with husband. Ordered the seafood crepes w/ arugula on the side…fabulous with a light béchamel sauce- wanted to lick the plate. Husband ordered korean bbq sandwich w/ roasted potatoes. Delicious. Also had glass of Pinot Grigio and husband ordered a beer. He is a Beer Nerd and was disappointed no beer on tap... More

We stop here quite frequently and every time we get amazing pastries, pies, cake, unique products and wine. You can't go wrong! I love to go in for the large containers of chili and soup as well as their take a make at home food and salads. The staff is always extremely helpful and friendly too!

My wife and I went out for breakfast early one Sunday morning and decided to go back to a place we use to love. Times do change, and sometimes that can mean the kitchen staff too. I ordered the eggs benedict and when it came the English muffins were cold and stale, the poached eggs were solid, and the hollandaise... More

Hi Bedford Eater, Thank you for taking the time to review your breakfast. I sincerely apologize that our eggs benedict was not up to your standards. It certainly wasn't up to our standards. We clearly dropped the ball on the entire dish. While we pride ourselves on freshly prepared, made from scratch food and strive for consistency, we are not... More
