Charming, historical, and very good!

The menu here has always been simple and predictable. Ham, fried chicken, sides, and deserts served family style. Décor is great, service even better. Prices are rather low. Great place to entertain friends.

Last week a group of "bikers" from our local HOG club rode to the J. Huston Tavern in Arrow Rock, Missouri. They have the best fried chicken and the service was fantastic! We went during the week (check the hours, in the summer during the week they are open for lunch from 11:00a.m.-2:00p.m.) and only about two other customers were... More

The welcoming atmosphere of this authentic 19th century tavern/restaurant in historic Arrow Rock, MO is eclipsed only by its wonderful menu and food. This visit was our third, and our party of 4 chose the family-style dinner that featured two meat choices, mashed potatoes and gravy, slaw, corn, and bread. Although it sounds like a basic "comfort food" menu item,... More

Had their fried chicken dinner which is their specialty. The service was excellent but maybe less checking in with us would have been preferred.

Had to try the fried chicken platter and was not disappointed! Fried chicken, potatoes and green beans were very good. Great friendly service. Good spot before heading to the theater

Had a wonderful lunch here on a recent weekend in Arrow Rock. All the staff was incredibly friendly, facilities were clean and service was prompt. The lunch menu was limited in choices, but all 4 in our group were very pleased with our choices. If/when we are back in the area we will definitely stop back by.

I loved eating here. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. Their website claims "The tavern is the oldest continuously serving restaurant west of the Mississippi River with 180 years of continuous service to the public." We were there on a night they served all you can eat fried chicken and ham family-style with all of the... More

Not many places to eat in Arrow Rock but you can't go wrong with this restaurant. Family style. Fried chicken is excellent. This place will take you back in time but with good food and service.

Our family had dinner after seeing the show at the Lyceum. The dining was family style and the food was good. Including the desserts! Our server Josh was wonderful and kept the food coming!
