Traveler's Inn has been around for a long time in Alexandria; it's a homey, locally owned place with a traditional, midwestern menu consisting of soups, sandwiches, and "baskets" - with fried fare and burgers. They also have an extensive breakfast menu as well as a dinner menu, though I've never dined there for dinner. The salad bar is good -... More

We came here as part of a family reunion. My wife grew up in Alexandria, so this place has fond memories for her. In fact, a relative of hers owned it for several years I found the food to be less than average at best. I'm sure they could do a lot better, but apparently the lack of serious competition... More

I visited twice during my stay in Alexandria . Both times for pie and coffee. First time was great. Good selection of homemade pie and great coffee. Took visitors back a few days later, because I bragged how good it was. Again it was good for most of us. One friend ordered the rhubarb pie. Waitress asked if she wanted... More

We visited for lunch and chose Traveler's based on reviews. Broadway is under construction so we had to walk down alleys to get there. Had the Walleye - over-fried. Salad had lots of old lettuce mixed in it. Very average.

Good food. Decent prices. Tomato soup was delicious. All you can eat shrimp was great. Salad bar was plentiful and cleaner than any I have seen. Service was wonderful. Family friendly. Will seek it out next time I am here!

Home-cooking. It was very busy, but that is a sign that it is a good place...servers and wait staff were great. Reasonable prices, good selection, and quality food. Had breakfast - warm caramel roll was the best!

This restaurant was in the hotel guide so we thought we'd give it a try. The "Hungry Man" breakfast filled up my 16-year old son with toast and pancake to spare, and the chicken fried steak was in my top 5! The sausage gravy had huge chunks of sausage, and a rich flavor that wasn't too salty. Just needed a... More

Excellent selection of homemade pie, something for everyone! My personal favorite is the Banana Split pie, yum! But get there early, the secret is out~

A very lovely place to eat. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food is great. Have visited at busy times and never felt that we waited too long. The food was hot and tasty and the salads were lovely. A salad bar with many choices can be included for a fee.
