What a wonderful little surprise to find this finely decorated, intimate, wine and ale bar just off of the main drag in small-town, central Minnesota. The atmosphere was pleasant, upscale and comfortable-- even if our wait-staff was a little curmudgeonly. (I do prefer a little more complex personality) It has quite an impressive array of beer and wine--comparable to the... More

Like I said -- if you're going here for a cheap meal -- you're in the wrong place...the food (appetizer sampler) was good, however, just comes at a high price. Awesome atmosphere, often have artists come in for live music -- great food, but super expensive. If you're into craft beers -- by far the best selection I've found in... More

Atmosphere was pleasant. Food portions were small and overpriced. Server was very knowledgeable of wines. Good place to go and socialize over a glass of wine but not for a nice meal

This small out of the way bar is great even if your out o towners Thursday night is entertainment night .Other nights might have unscheduled entertainment if musicians happen to show up This is like CHEERS after one visit everyone remembers you. Great selection of wines and large selection of beers and ales from standard brands to small craft brewers... More

I sat at the bar alone and the service was attentive, but not overwhelming. The pork tenderloin was great and the wine just fine (not a huge selection, a lot of middle of the road approachable stuff). They had a good selection of bottled brews, but only two on tap. I told all of my colleagues to try this place... More

When the core of city business in a still vibrant "historical downtown" comes to a close - those with a desire for a place for convivial conversation goes beyond blaring sports TVs -- There is SAWA. A respite to enjoy a glass of better quality wine at moderate prices. ... and in comfortable chairs or fashionable high boys. Boy oh... More

Went on a Friday night, very busy. Cozy place. We decided to skip the main meal and instead have only appetizers. Good choice, the appetizers were fantastic! The waitress recommended a great red wine. Maybe a bit on the pricey side, but "you get what you pay for". Kind of a hidden location, off the main street (Broadway).

Been coming here since they opened, tonight we parked in designated parking spot for bar-we came out & were boxed in by a car. We asked in wine bar if they knew what was up since someone put a sign on our car saying "leased parking only". We were not parked in front of any sign that said that. Finally... More

Showed up with a big group, little kids and grown ups. The staff ensured we all had a great time and all found something on the menu. Pizza for the kids, Pasta and salad for adults. Extensive wine list. Very accommodating. I guess this is why it's my favorite place in alex!!
