Great spot for prototypical breakfast/brunch/lunch

We were in Ann Arbor for about a week and between the various members of our party, ate at Northside Grill on three occasions. During our visit with friends in Ann Arbor, our friend brought us to this place for lunch, which was not far from the University of Michigan. After having tried several fast food chains during our US visit, the Northside Grill was a refreshing change. The place was almost full - we were lucky to get a table at all. It... More

The food isn't terrible, but it's just not really special. Or even especially good for that matter. The cook doesn't even understand that there is a difference between eggs cooked over easy and eggs cooked over medium. I ordered over medium and they looked exactly the same as the over easy eggs my husband had on his plate. The best... More

This week was my first time at Northside Grill after a very long absence. The restaurant and menu choices feel rather dated and old-fashioned when I compare them with some of the newer breakfast places in town. We had the "Kitchen Sink" - a vegetarian skillet with hash browns, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, and mushrooms, topped with mozzarella-cheddar cheese mix... More

Everything that is ordinary abut Ann Arbor's culinary greatness can fit into the Northside Grill. A townie diner for those folks for whom quality and originality is not a requirement. Yeah...old school....old menu.....just plain old.

This is a good place for breakfast and lunch especially if you are in the neighborhood of the University Hospitals. Friendly and efficient staff. Breakfast is the usual fare with good full bodied coffee.

There are two solid breakfast restaurants in Ann Arbor and then the others. The North Side Grill is for serious breakfast eaters and for many such as myself breakfast is the best meal of the day. Northside is a breakfast/lunch place serving an eclectic set ranging from students, working people, others of all ages as well as those who listen... More

the food here is pretty good, but it is quite overpriced. With tip and coffee, a typical breakfast will cost you $15-$17 a plate. weekends are not the time to eat here, unless you feel like waiting for an hour or more. That's pretty tough on kids and their parents, which is why I don't recommend this place for young... More

They do a great deal for birthdays (free entrée), and the food is well worth it. The dishes are more filling than they appear. I got a mocha, which came with a lot of whipped cream, which I loved. The raisin French toast was very delicious as well. Service was friendly.

This little "local's place" has the best breakfast in Ann Arbor. Make sure to try the potato pancakes!
