Great Polish and Hungarian Cusine in Ann Arbor

We visited the Amadeus Café this past Saturday with a family group of 8 adults. We called at mid day to ask if they had room for us at 6:30 and they graciously said yes. While you can easily find many restaurants in Ann Arbor that offer the standard steaks, seafood, and Italian dishes, Amadeus may... read more

Treat youself to authenic Hungarian delights. The atmosphere resembles a resturant in the "Old Country". On Friday evening's there is music with requests. Never a disappointment, and we can not get back often enough.

After 7 years in AA, we finally discovered Amadeus. Previously, I had only noticed this place when going to Arbor Brewing Co. or otherwise walking around the area - I always thought it was some fancy uptight place from the outside. When I learned that it was Polish / eastern European food and checked out the menu, we decided to... More

My husband and I had dinner here recently. I love polish food so I was hoping for a really good dinner. The buttermilk dressing for the salad was very good. Unfortunately, the golabek was just ok, a bit undercooked. Wasn't happy to have canned tomatoes on top instead of a good homemade ketchup. The salmon my husband had was overcooked... More

Amadeus was our choice for News Years Eve dinner, and it was a delight. We had not been to the restaurant for several years, the last time being just for desert. We had a slight hiccup in that our server was not feeling well, and he left us waiting for a couple of courses, and was finally relieved by another... More

Amadeus specializes in Eastern European food, especially Hungarian. I thoroughly enjoyed my kielbasa. My wife liked her chicken paprikash with potato pancakes, but not as much as I enjoyed my dinner. Amadeus also offers wonderful desserts. Our waiter was charming, appropriately attentive, and made sure we were done in time to get to our movie.

Amadeus is a tiny restaurant (seats no more than 20) and offers delicious menu items from Eastern Europe. The restaurant is at its finest in December when it is decorated with over 100 small woodcarvings and really has a romantic holiday feel. The dessert menu is tremendous and don't pass up the Pumpkin Cheesecake. The restaurant also has a Sunday... More

I decided to get off Main Street for date night and Amadeus seemed appropriate. We sat by the window and with the first measurable snow of the season, it was picturesquely romantic if you can ignore the big slab of the parking garage across the street. Dinner consisted of the Bitki and Budapest Pancakes. Doesn't sound like much but both... More

Amadeus was recommended by a friend and we were glad we followed his advise. Our goal was good "ethnic" food at a reasonable price. Amadeus exceeded our expectations! This is a quirky little restaurant with eclectic decor, friendly servers, and great food. There is outside seating to enjoy while the weather holds. Heavy red velvet theatrical curtains shield the entrance-... More

Banking business took me to Washington and Main Streets in Ann Arbor. An enthusiastic hostess saw me looking in the window and at the menu, and invited me in even though it was only a bit past 11 and Amadeus was not yet officially open. I was an easy sale; any number of times I had heard about this restaurant,... More
