You'll have enough for two meals!

My wife and I went to Metzger's with another couple on their recommendation. It was excellent advice. We all had German Warsteiner beer in 16 oz. mugs for a great start. We had a variety of dishes: beef patties, sauerbraten, Wiener schnitzel and sausages. All were hearty dishes with your choice of... read more

Years ago Ann Arbor lost the two downtown German restaurants run by the Metzger Family. A big loss to this historically very German community and part of my ancestry and travels. Treasures were sold off and we waited. Not disappointed the Ann Arbor area was rewarded with the reopening of Metzger's out in the western township and slowly the treasured... More

Jaeger chicken and rouladen were incredibly average at best. Such a sad state since this used to be a wonderful place to get authentic German food. We will not be back.

Every once and a while you need to fill a German craving. In the Southern Michigan/Northern Ohio area this is the place. Food is delicious and plentiful. Plenty of reviews out there describing the food and it's quality so I'll talk about the service. We have two toddlers at the time of this posting. We have traveled 45 mins one... More

Summary: Given we are in the middle of Michigan, the recipes are pretty close to what you would find in Germany. It would be nice if they offered some of the more traditional German soft drinks and Apple Wine. Otherwise, it's pretty solid. The Good: - The food is very good and we have now been a few times. -... I have frequented Metzgers for many years now. It is an Ann Arbor Classic that has stood the test of time. It is one of those places that you just cannot go wrong with as the food is fresh and service exemplary. Even if not going for a meal and you want a place to conduct some business or go... More

Our table of 5 tried three appetizers. The onion pie appetizer was excellent. The sausage appetizer was cooked perfectly and the three mustard choices were fun and delicious. The noodle appetizer was just okay. We all ordered dinners and they were very good. I tried a bite of almost everything and there wasn't anything I didn't like. My favorite was... More

and maybe the best red cabbage on the planet, if you go for that sort of thing.... I had the mixed brats, and should of had a couple of weisswurst instead, it was too much and the weiss was the best of the three. German fries, the red cabbage, maybe a little applesauce - heaven! My wife had the schnitzel... More
