Stopped in, with friends, on our way to Battle Creek. It was just off the expressway, located in a newer, small strip-type shopping area. Only one in our party of four had ever dined here, but he thought we would all enjoy it. My husband is of German descent, and he loved his mother's & grandmother's German dishes, especially red... We hadn't been to Metzger's in probably 25 years(they were still in downtown Ann Arbor then). We were not disappointed. We shared two different meals that tasted like a home cooked meal-delish! Heard a lot of customers speaking with heavy German accents, usually a good sign that this is authentic. The food came very fast. Slow getting the bill. Food was... More

The atmosphere of the restaurant is reminiscent of a touristy German restaurant. Don't let that dissuade you from eating here. The food is very good and reminded us of the food we'd had in Germany years ago. I had the Wurst Platte which featured three different brats (all very tasty), sauerkraut and schnitzel with gravy. There was so much food... More

The restaurant looked clean. The walls looked freshly painted and were decorated with shelves filled with German-themed memorabilia. The service was fast and friendly. My husband's beef rouladen (served on weekend nights) and my pot roast were delicious. The homemade apple strudel was great.

Not a real German food fan but from start to finish this place is awesome! Cucumber salad was delish as was my meal and the apple strudel do not miss!

I have been here many times in the past. Metzger's has consistently excellent food and service. I love their pumpernickel bread! I do not, however, recommend their desserts. They have been bad every time I have tried them. This time, my daughter and I got two different kinds of sausage, spaetzel, and delicious vegetables. Other times, we have gotten schnitzel... More

I've been in Germany before, so I know how German food tastes and this was not the real taste from Germany. Service was slow and didn't even offered more water to drink. Dessert was less than something you can find at Walmart. Pricey.

My three co-workers and I headed to Metzgers to try some German Food. We decided to split the Sauerbraten and Schnitzel with Jager Sauce. Some also tried the soups and we had the Wurst Platter. We had four sides potato pancakes, spaetzle, fried potatoes, and sauerkraut, plus an extra spaetzle. There was beer also enjoyed for those who wished to... More

After reading all the great reviews for this German restaurant we felt we had found a great place for dinner. Unfortunately, it seems that they must have their employees filling out the Trip Adviser reviews. The food was less than average, the service was slow. The ambience was a strip mall with a lot of steins and clocks but still... More
