Even the salad is outstanding

So on your birthday you can get 1/2 off food (if you are with one person- it is 1/N discount with N being the total number of people). This restaurant is wonderful but out of my price range except on my birthday. The tenderloin and grilled asparagus are wonderful.

The Chop House is an up scale restaurant, that has very good service and a great menu. The service is prompt and the food is prepared exactly as you like it. It is located on Main Street in the center of activities of Ann Arbor.

It depends on what's your thing. Entering the Chop House does feel like a special occasion; very clubby, conservative, dressy. It had been a few years since I've eaten there, and now I remember why. Food is boring and nothing on the menu evokes any real desire for me. Very mid-century (Hello Mad Men?). And every time I've gone there... More

Outrageously expensive, but a meal you won't forget. All steaks were fantastic (a grade you can't get at home) and all the pricey sides and salads were de'lish- be careful as this is where the price adds up, before you know it, the bill comes and you might have to take out a small loan to pay it. Large wine... More

Chop house isn't cheap. That's a fact. Nonetheless, it is worth the price we paid, no doubt. This restaurant is really nice and overrated but the food was out of this world. The upshot is that if you are looking for great food and wine at any price and place little or no value on sophisticated dinning, this place will... More

There are at least 3 ways to experience chop house. 1) for dinner, 2) for dessert , 3) for a cigar and drink in the cigar lounge. (3) is my favorite and would get 5 stars. (2) is also good. (1) was good but disappointing for the price. Chop house has a great cigar lounge, you can bring your own... More

Good food, great drinks, fine desserts, great cigars (ooh, that smell!), and, in our case, great company. This is a special occasions place with a high end NY ambience in the middle of Ann Arbor. Expensive, yes, but well worth it.

The only good thing about our recent dinner was Sheldon - he is simply delightful! Other than that, Spencer's steak was so under cooked (he asked for medium well) that he didn't eat it. The crab/lobster cakes were good, but not outstanding - which is what I expect from the Chop House. There are too many other terrific restaurants in... More
