Very Good Seafood

The service was the strength of Gandy Dancer, from the valet parking to the table service---beyond reproach and as good as anywhere. The lobster bits appetizer was $15 for four bites of lightly breaded lobster. It was good but 4 bites for $15? The lobster bisque was good but somewhat bitter-which... read more

We have had lunch and dinner at the Gandy Dancer on many occasions. We recently returned for dinner with our son and the food was delicious. For our starters we had east meets west (tuna tartare), firecracker shrimp and shrimp cocktail and for the main course our son had rare prime rib and we each had the broiled halibut -... More

My daughter got married and the reception was at the Gandy Dancer. Everything went perfect! The food was superb! Service impeccable and the room was absolutely gorgeous! One more great Muir restaurant ! The building is the old train station and it is not just beautiful but a great atmosphere with the old bells and pieces of train history. Our... More

Gandy Dancer is our favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor period, bar none. Best to go for lunch -- more bang for the buck. But the dinner is nice as well albeit a little pricey. Great freshly prepared food (fish and steaks are the best) and some of the best homemade bread ever!!!

The server was excellent and the food was superb! I had never eaten in this restaurant before, but I will be back. My prime rib melted in my mouth and my friends swordfish was cooked to perfection. Yes it is a little expensive, but worth every penny and the ambience was nice and it was not loud. The portions of... More

For Foodies the food is the same-old. Ambience is very nice. For large crowds, in-laws, first elegant dates Gandy Dancer is safe and ranks a 3.5-4.5. I have never had a bad meal. Portions are good, plate dressing, and sauces are nice. I hosted our 2nd's newborn blessing for extended family here. Gandy is in Ann Arbor's 1840s brick train... More

Probably our favourite restaurant to go to for a special occasion-as it can be a bit pricey, but sooooooooo worth it! If you love seafood, you will be in heaven. Also, they really take care of you here and make you feel special. Our waiter, Bill, was especially attentive. This old train station is beautiful and nostalgic, as well as... More

We have been dining at the Gandy Dancer since forever, it seems. That is, two or three visits a year since we live away from Ann Arbor. Ownership has changed during that time. The menu has changed as well, though still focusing on seafood. It is still terrific -- service is excellent and food is always great. This dinner visit... More

A long-time fixture of the Ann Arbor restaurant scene that many are nostalgic about. But the menu is uninspired, food so so, and the surroundings are nice but tired. Bottom line is that there many better meals to be had in the area.
