Gratzi, an elegant Italian restaurant with distinct style, was founded in downtown Ann Arbor, Mich. in December 1987. Formerly the Orpheum Theater, which screened the most popular movies of the day in the 1930s, Gratzi maintains the flair of the dramatic history still preserved today in the restaurant's elegant décor and ambience. Seated above Gratzi's bar is a grand sculpture of Orpheus himself, the great poet and musician, overlooking dining room guests, while a beautifully painted Renaissance-style mural depicting an ancient bacchanal reinforces the indulgent and purely pleasurable atmosphere. Indulge in the purely pleasurable atmosphere and savor unique flavors of regional Italian cuisine and wine.

An Ann Arbor Icon

Gratzi has been a "go-to" place in Ann Arbor for almost 30 years. As the Italian name suggests, Italian cuisine is emphasized; Italian wines are well-represented on the wine list, as well. Quality is reliable and portions are good-sized. At a Saturday night dinner for six of us, we enjoyed... read more

There are times I have liked this and times where it is much too over priced for what they are serving you. The food isn't anything super special, but if you have a picky eater, there are a lot of basic Italian options.

Definately mid-upper level priced eats here. A solid price hike from say an Olive Garden or Carrabba's. If you like more of an "artisan" style food, you will like this place. If you prefer an Olive Garden or Carrabba's, you wont. Just a "different" kind of Italian food. You either love it or hate it. But the atmosphere and general... More

We had a work-related dinner for six at Gratzi. I have eaten here several times before but this was the first visit after a gap of about 18 months. In my opinion, the restaurant is not nearly as good as it used to be. Firstly, the service was pretty awful. We sat at the table for a long time before... More

Long considered the top Italian restaurant in Ann Arbor, Gratzi seemed to be sitting on its laurels for quite some time. So, when friends told me the menu recently changed dramatically, I headed back for a business lunch. Obsessed the menu had changed. It had gotten smaller, with some of the classic favorite dishes gone. In fact, I found very... More

"Thank you" in Italian is grazie, but due to many Mafia movies, we Americans think it is gratzi; hence the name for this very popular Ann Arbor staple for nearly 30 years with an elegant interior. First, we went on a very busy Christmas Eve and the service was excellent, although some dishes suffered a bit. There were five of... More

We had a big group so were pleased when they seated us in a quiet corner in the front. The service was very good. The food was delicious! Everyone was happy with their meal, whether they ordered seafood, pasta or other.

I've been to Gratzi several times with my husband, and was super impressed the first time we went-- I ordered a dish with boar and it was rich and succulent. The service was great too. Our waiter was very attentive. For this visit we were one of a few in the entire restaurant. The second time we went they were... More
