I had not been to this restaurant for about 8 years, when we finally went back. My memory was of the service being a bit stuffy (too many different people waiting on us, a rather pretentious sommelier, etc.). This time back was much better -- a discreet question about drinks, with no one making me feel provincial for ordering the... More

What a great restaurant. Everything was delicious - they are very famous for their duck dishes. I found the appetizers of stuffed mushrooms and the spicy shrimp to be outstanding. The dressing on the salad was excellent - very tasty. I had their chicken and it was delicious - prepared perfectly. Wines complimented the meals and the dessert of creme... More

i had the egg plant. Fantastic. I was with a large business group. Great service and atmosphere. Parking is not abundant, however worth the hunt.

Let me start by saying: this place has a wonderful atmosphere. I love the décor. The house merlot is great and prices for the wine are average. Now, the food: The Earle is not a very good value for the money. The calamari was tasteless, the stuffed mushrooms are just OK. All entrees are expensive and the filet, at $31.95,... More

Look no further than this place. The first time I ate here was with my fiancé in 1990 when she was a law student at UM. Fast forward to 2014, she's now my wife and we had a very enjoyable meal with our 5 kids (same waitress) JK. Great food and love the atmosphere. A jazz trio played on a... More

We inadvertently chose Sweetest Day as our first time dining at The Earle. Every table was full by 7:30PM. As a wine lover, I appreciated the cork motif throughout the restaurant. The atmosphere is definitely a throw-back to dim-lit masculine steakhouses (which I happen to enjoy!) - but with some unnatural touches, such as lacy curtains in one area. I... More

This is one of my favorites. The food is always excellent and they have a really good wine list. I particularly like their Roquefort beef. Salads are fine too. The atmosphere is quiet so you can actually talk without shouting. The service is like that at many restaurants in Ann Arbor - fine. Prices are not as high as in... More

I came here for a friend's birthday as it was her favorite Ann Arbor restaurant. We both had a fantastic dinner. I went for pasta with duck sausage. When the portion came, it looked rather small, but it ended being so filling in the most satisfying way. The sausage was good, and the pine nuts made for a nice touch.... More

I had low expectations for this place but was rather surprised as the food was much better than I expect. I had the smoked salmon for an appetizer and the peppered steak for my entree. Both were pretty good. The drinks were nice and strong also. In addition, The waiter had a great attitude considering he was taking 17 different... More

The place has been there thirty years or so. When a restaurant has stood the test of time in that way, then I really have an expectation. First it's in a basement. Ok. But not much else I can say one way or the other. And I was comparing it all night to Gratzi, where we had been the night... More
