The location was remodeled beautifully, unfortunately the food and service quality have been variable. We've been there 3 or 4 times and keep hoping they will improve - but it is still hit or miss.

Birthday dinner celebration for my wife on our first visit to Ann Arbor. Wide assortment of cuisine and the service was excellent. Pecan chicken and grilled salmon was wonderful, as were the roasted potatoes, and greens.

I went to Vellum for the first time a few weeks ago, with a friend who knew the owner. Maybe that is why we got the service and attention we did, but it was outstanding. I also had chicken with mushrooms, from their mushroom tasting menu, which was fresh, well-prepared, delicious.

Vellum has really come along since it opened, the service has improved and the food is very reliable- I am hooked on the Tagliatelle with bay scallops. My only complaint would be that on almost every visit they have been out of at least one wine we tried to order. This really isn't a big deal unless you have your... More

We selected Vellum because of the good reviews and the ambiance of the restaurant. It started well enough, but when we tried to order wine we were informed the wine cellar was "a mess" and that graduation/mothers day etc had depleted the wines. They were left with few wines less than $100 and would not substitute or discount. Don't most... More

I ate here on a weekday evening with my teenage daughter and a friend. We wanted a light meal. I had the fresh pea soup with mint and it was amazing! My green salad left me unimpressed. It was literally greens. Nothing else Whole, could have been right from the plastic package from the grocery store. Dressing was good but... More

Our server was very efficient and friendly, without being overbearing. I ordered wine, which was brought out within a few minutes, and my husband ordered a craft cocktail, which came about 15 minutes later (I thought that was strange). A few slices of bread and butter were brought out on parchment paper. Our meals were nicely prepared, beautifully plated, and... More

The chefs produce unique and delicious items instead of the usual copycat dishes you can find everywhere. I adore the beef tartar, the fried beets and anything they do with oysters and parsnips. That said, I'm not a vegetarian, but their menu has items for everyone. There are also interesting original cocktails. All of this happens with excellent service in... More

I was there for dinner on a recent Saturday evening and did not feel that the food lived up to the vibe or the pleasant ambience. I had a relatively simple-to-prepare chicken dish which was rubbery. The place was not so busy as to justify a lack of care in the preparation. The wine selection is quite good with some... More

Very nouvelle-cuisine experience, said the Californian! Went for UM graduation dinner, as was every single other party on the second floor (groups of parents and kids). Obviously too expensive for students on their own, except for date nights. The cheese platter was terrific, the short rib and rib eye excellent, the spicy tagliatelle a little too spicy for my tastes.... More
