Pie making may soon become a lost art but at Achatz Handmade Pie Co. We still do things the old fashioned way. Many of our recipes have been passed through generations, and we continue the tradition by sharing the same handmade techniques instilled in our childhood. Achatz pies are made with pure and natural ingredients; we never use chemicals, preservatives or hydrogenated oils. And most of our fruit, flour, sugar and dairy is purchased from local farms. These values result in a top quality product even grandma can be proud of. We started baking in 1993 from our Victorian home in Armada, Michigan. After moving our operation to a nearby ten-acre apple orchard, Achatz Handmade Pie Co. Was officially born. To this day we've maintained our high standards to produce a pie that we believe is simply the best. Our pies have been featured on "Food Network", the "Rachael Ray Show", "The Today Show" and "Good Morning America Weekend." We have also been featured in "Bon Appetit" magazine and "Food & Wine" magazine. Even though we have won numerous national and local awards, our pies are still down-to-earth, all natural and wholesome. We're keeping it real and we invite you to taste the difference. OUR HANDMADE PIES Our mission has always been to create the best pies money can buy. Our tender, flaky crust and real fruit fillings merge with as many locally-grown ingredients as available to create a pie that's fresh and natural. It's no wonder "Detroit News" food writer Kate Lawson has stated, "Achatz makes the best pies you'll ever eat." Achatz Handmade Pie Co. Cares about what we bring to your kitchen. We continue to stand up to the highest standards for quality, purity and goodness. Our cream pies are made from scratch using pure butter, pure vanilla and fresh local whole milk. We never use canned fruit and find every opportunity to use locally grown produce. And if you can't have sugar, we also have fruit juice sweetened pies available. We know extra care and extra effort make an extra delicious pie!

Very nice selection and quality. A great treat to take back to the hotel room. I thought their cherry pie was outstanding. Wife thought French Silk was good, but preferred their Chocolate Cream. More selection of individual slices would be nice, for those times when you can't use a whole pie. We look forward to going back again.

I'm a first timer and bought two as Thanksgiving gifts for a student supper and one for home and friends. My pecan was supper and seemed pricey at 18.99 'tilI heard Zingerman's charges more than 3 times as much. Cute little shop; super service, great choices, can call ahead. Even got a phone call back when I called twice and... More

I've always been a chocolate cake girl, and my husband's always been a pie guy. But after Achatz's pies, I think I've been converted! The crust was lovely, the fruit sweet and fresh-tasting, not the sickly sweet taste of mass-produced pies. We had the apple, which was good, and the cherry, which was PHENOMENAL. The filling was SO GOOD, and... More

I worked next door at Krogers as a Food Demo person, and I always ended up next door for a piece of pie. The BEST Mixed Berry pie ever. The Cannoli pie was better than a cannoli. The Cherry is Great!

The cherry and apple pies have a light flaky crust and not too much sugar so the fruit is what you enjoy. Infinitely better than gooey, sugary pies usually are. They also have homemade soups which we'll try next visit. Large, small and pies by the piece are available.

Wanted a snack one evening after dinner so I walked in and purchased their blueberry pie. Was a great price compared to Bush's or Kroger but 1000 times better. Going to buy a few for the family thanksgiving dinner they are worth every penny!

I sampled these pies when they first moved in. A couple years later I am pleased to say that they are as good as when they first opened. There is quite a selection and something for everyone craving sweets by the slice or selecting a pie for a special occasion. Do not hesitate to stop in for a great finish... More

I don't dare say their pies are better than anyone else's in your family, like your Mother's, Grandmother's, or Aunt's, but I sure want to! Because it's my Grandmother's own apple pie that it takes me back to, in ways long forgotten till now. The apples are sliced thin, the pastry dough so delicate, and melt-in-your-mouth fresh. Oh yeah, I... More
