A tradition throughout Bolivia it is imperative that you take 'elevenses' at a restaurant or cafe serving Salteñas. El Patio is a specialist! The Salteñas are hot and delicious with a suitably thin pastry crust. Drinks served range from coffee through freshly prepared fruit juices with either milk or water and with or without sugar (I recommend with water and... More

We went in the morning. They had chicken and beef and they came out piping hot! The juice will burn your fingers or mouth so beware and use the spoon. The food was soo good that we wanted to get takeaway at 1:30pm but it was already closed! The only bad thing about this place is that it is crowded... More

Empanadas are delicious. Whatever flavour you ask for, you will love it. Just remember that if you ask for take away, get a spoon!

I line their blended fruit drinks and love their beef salteñas. In my opinion they are the beef salteñas in town. If you want chicken, I suggest going to Los Pasos de Los Abuelos. They've got the edge on the chicken ones!

Salteñas (which some have compared to very big, Argentine-type, baked empanadas) might be the best fast-food in Bolivia. I have Bolivian friends living in Sucre, and I've been coming to this town for month-long visits every-other year for the past twelve years. My major complaint with Sucre is that they do not realize that there might be a demand for... More

Not amazing food. A little too much sauce inside the Saltenas. Really busy but worth at least one try to compare the empanadas in Sucre.

Saltenas are a Bolivian version of an empanada. These have an amazing pastry on the outside and a delicious, sweet filling on the inside. You can choose between chicken, beef, or the empanadas of Santa Cruz, which have sugar sprinkled on the top. Personally, I couldn't get enough of the Saltenas de Caldo (carne, beef), and I must have eaten... More

I went here with my Spanish teacher for an authentic Sucre salteña, and I can definitely say I was not disappointed. The place was packed around lunchtime, which is always a good sign. The pastry was perfectly golden on the outside, and the sauce and filling was warm and well-seasoned. The prices were right, very affordable, and service was incredibly... More

This place is very nice, in a patio. Who can order chicken or beef empanadas, also fresh juice. They are very tasty and cheap. Service is very fast. Great place for breakfast of even lunch!

This place was recommended to us by our Spanish teacher in Sucre, fantastic Saltenas, but the place only opens until around 11.30 - 12noon. I assume they stay open until they run out, we had class in the week, so went every Saturday and Sunday for brunch. You queue at the til and get your ticket, then queue at the... More
