Good enough with good value

We enjoyed it and the food is reasonably tasty with good price. Small portions though. View is one of the best if u r in the right time of the year and can sit next to the creek.

Nice views, atmosphere and very good and long lasting shisha makes from this place a good stop if you wander around old city centre.

Settings of this restaurant is fantastic. Buzzing river life just in front of u as u sit "on" the water. However a fading star. Menu's are filthy, worn out to extreme, should been replaced years ago. Food used to be good, now average only distinction, its local food. Instead of serving the bread hot out of the oven does it... More

An excellent position with good views across the creek, especially in the evening when the boats leave with all their lights on. The food is ok but not amazing. Some of the staff are quite rude, the man who served us was very surly and did not even acknowledge some of the things we said, even though he heard us.... More

I stopped here while shopping at the textile souk. I had a nice rack of lamb and keebeh. I didn't find many places near there that had had good reviews so this was nice. It was nice to see the creek :)

A nice stop on the way to Deira (Spice and Gold Souq)... maybe just before crossing the channel... Very good local food, a beautiful terrace on the sea, kind service. You can find many locals with family in the weekend. I suggest to go!

My girlfriend and I were visiting old Dubai during a recent trip and were pretty hungry shortly before spotting this restaurant. It looked really touristy and that worried me but the reviews looked decent and we were in a hurry so we decided to try it. The service was prompt and the food came out very quickly. We got some... Bayt Al Wakeel occupies a prime spot on Dubai creek, ideal for watching the activity on the creek and it should be perfect for anyone walking around old Dubai. Unfortunately the food is easily the worst of its kind (which can be called "assorted middle eastern" - a fairly standard selection you'll find all over the region) that I've had... More

The restaurant is a little gem with loads of travellers coming here straight from the Abra boats. It has a lovely terrace overlooking the river/creek. The food is quite nice standard fare of hummus and kebabs. The Turkish tea was good. Price is reasonable. Problems are that it is very crowded so can take ages to get seated and the... More

Staying in The Creek

Neighborhood Profile
The Creek
The smell of frankincense hangs thick and heavy in the air, waves lap gently at jetties, and market traders call to passing tourists. The creek, originally the place where pearl boats docked and left on missions to uncover jewels from the deep, is where the city really began. The Al Fahidi District on the Creekside is one of the oldest heritage sites in Dubai, easily recognizable with its iconic wind towers, the original air conditioning. Home to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and the Dubai Museum, the old buildings also house a range of cafes, shops and art galleries. Often called “the real Dubai,” this is a wonderful place to lose yourself before catching an abra across the creek to the spice souk, where your senses will be overwhelmed with tastes, smells, and sounds.
