Enjoying the Old Dubai!

I had a great experience at this restaurant. I had a walking tour along the creek and found this place great for a break. I had Arabic sala which was tasty and inexpensive. The restaurant is at the waterfront so I enjoyed watching water taxis and boats sailing around, and having relaxing breeze... I also charged my cell phone there.... More

We have been to this restaurant a few times in previous years and have always found the food to be good and the views to be spectacular. It is a fairly small restaurant, considering its growing popularity (as it is now mentioned in guide books). Therefore, it is imperative to arrive early to avoid queuing for a table. The service... This restaurant is so well located by the creek and has so much potential! It's a shame that their service and organization is terrible. We waited about 30 minutes to be seated and were handed the menu after about 20 minutes. Even then, the waiter hands it to customers that arrived after us and completely ignored us, despite those customers... More

My boyfriend read in his travel guide about this restaurant, where it was recommended and when we already were in the Creek area we thought we'd try it out. We searched a moment to find it, and as soon as we arrived we had to wait be seated. There was a waitress writing on a paper and she looked shortly... More

Our last night in Dubai and found the restaurant in a stunning location. This was where our luck ended. The food came within minutes. Cold fries, dried out chicken and pre~packed flat bread. The hummous was over oiled and poor. If i did not know better, i would say the whole meal had been precooked and just thrown on the... More

We planned to have lunch at Bayt Al Wakeel restaurant in the heart of Bur Dubai. The restaurant has a nice location - right on the river - and is perfect after a day of roaming in the streets of Mina Bazaar. Even though this restaurant is listed and recommended by Time Out, I FIRMLY ADVISE TO STAY AWAY FROM... More

take the 1 Dirham boat across the Creek and turn left. 200 mores down you will find a great view of the Creek and some good middle eastern food. We really liked this place and by the queues you know it is a good one. Easy to find. Busy. Great Views.

Staying in The Creek

Neighborhood Profile
The Creek
The smell of frankincense hangs thick and heavy in the air, waves lap gently at jetties, and market traders call to passing tourists. The creek, originally the place where pearl boats docked and left on missions to uncover jewels from the deep, is where the city really began. The Al Fahidi District on the Creekside is one of the oldest heritage sites in Dubai, easily recognizable with its iconic wind towers, the original air conditioning. Home to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and the Dubai Museum, the old buildings also house a range of cafes, shops and art galleries. Often called “the real Dubai,” this is a wonderful place to lose yourself before catching an abra across the creek to the spice souk, where your senses will be overwhelmed with tastes, smells, and sounds.
