Great setting, good mezzes and friendly service

This is a real gem of a place in Bur Dubai. It's on the same complex as several other faux-authentic Middle-Eastern buildings but it done very nicely. Very close to our hotel, this restaurant created a wonderful atmosphere and offered outstanding food. We ate in the courtyard with a great view through the door to the creek. Our waiter was unobtrusive and efficient. Food was fresh and tasty with lots of garlic and heat adding to the mix. Pricing was excellent - really quite good considering the... More

This place offers a decent variety of Arabian food. However the service can be better. Watch out for the quantity.. As you will be full with the starters:) the main course is good n seems like they have a fixed menu table spread! Overall good place to go, ambience is pensive n relaxing!

The restaurant is by the creekside next to Ruler's Court. You can go up to the second level to take photos of the nice views surrounding the place, such as the creek and the alleyways of the old souk. The food was not the cheapest (about 80 dirhams per person for one main course and drink) but the views, atmosphere... More

I've eaten here a few times. The restaurant is located in one of the traditional courtyard houses and is very atmospheric. The food is great and when it is cool you can sit outside. Lovely!

Very quiet when we went for dinner at around 7.30pm, very efficient service in the lovely atmospheric courtyard. Food was great - we had various hot and cold mezzes, 3 each was a good quantity! Great location right by the creek which you can wander along afterwards to see the brightly lit boats. Easier to access from the waterside -... More

This restaurant is facing the creek, so if you're approaching from the souqs it's quite a maze to get through. The food was great, we had mixed kebabs and a lamb stew with lovely fresh bread, the latter we watched being made. Atmosphere was relaxed and I loved the background music (not live) played.

In many respects Bastakiah Nights should be the perfect spot for a traditional Arabian dinner. Located in the restored and historic (if mostly deserted) Bastakiah neighborhood the restaurant is located in a lovely building that has a large open courtyard and an upstairs terrace (though we had to dine inside due to the windy and cool weather). It is like... More

Fair to good food in lovely setting. The restaurant has plenty of menu options, but has fewer options for vegetarians.

Staying in The Creek

Neighborhood Profile
The Creek
The smell of frankincense hangs thick and heavy in the air, waves lap gently at jetties, and market traders call to passing tourists. The creek, originally the place where pearl boats docked and left on missions to uncover jewels from the deep, is where the city really began. The Al Fahidi District on the Creekside is one of the oldest heritage sites in Dubai, easily recognizable with its iconic wind towers, the original air conditioning. Home to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and the Dubai Museum, the old buildings also house a range of cafes, shops and art galleries. Often called “the real Dubai,” this is a wonderful place to lose yourself before catching an abra across the creek to the spice souk, where your senses will be overwhelmed with tastes, smells, and sounds.
