Wanna catch up with some Aussies?

This is the place to go if you want to meet up with some Aussies. Most of the guys and girls in there were Australians, which is not too hard to tell from the accents. A good place to go to watch AFL football. The foods, like hamburgers at 64,000 Kip are somewhat higher than most other places... read more

Went to the place for a drink. What i liked very much is that you get the beer in ice bucket which is not so usual here. Very appreciated in hot weather. We did not eat but burgers we saw looked great.

Thanks for a great review. All our big beers are served in an ice bucket and customers really appreciate getting an ice cold beer. Pleased you enjoyed and look forward to your return soon. More

Self described as a Sports Bar, but it didn't have the Liverpool FC vs Thailand All Stars game on. Which was pretty much the biggest football game in SE Asia at the minute. Only football match they showed was a Copa America game from 3 weeks previous. Nothing on all the other channels. Disappointed. Not much atmosphere. Good for western... More

Thanks for your contribution. I can understand your frustration at not being able to see something you wanted to watch on TV. We have 3 satellite services offering over 200 channels however we simply can't provide you with the event if it is not being televised. Maybe there was a broadcasting rights issue or simply not enough interest in the... More

We used the Bar as a meeting point for our group and had drinks and a meal here several times. The meals are large and good solid favourites like burgers are as expected and the beer is cold. If you want a break from Lao food and good simple Aussie pub fare is your preference this is the place for... More

We didn't stay here but we socialised here a few times over our 2 week sojourn in Luang Prabang. Our digs were directly across the road at Mojo Guesthouse so we found it very convenient for some Aussie favourites like Bundy Rum, Steak Sanga or Chicken Schnitzel. More expensive than most of the other restaurants in the area but when... More

Travelling around Asia there are times when some more familiar 'flavours' is what you are looking for. It is very much what you might expect to find at a cheap pub in Australia though even then food options are somewhat more adventurous. By Laos standards this is an expensive place to eat but if you have kids who struggle with... More

Thanks for your review and we are pleased you found the atmosphere, service and drinks to your liking. If we had access to produce that Australia has we could certainly offer a more adventurous menu but alas this is Laos and whilst I disagree that we are alike to a "Cheap Aussie Pub" I would prefer to think we are... Rustic layout and furnishings make for a very cool room to come home to after taking in the gems of Luang Prabang. A good bar with just the right level of rowdy is also there for a relaxing nightcap or if you're on holiday at the wrong time and want your live sports fix!

We had some bad luck. The first two rooms had air con machines that didn't work. The staff were really nice and changed the room for us each time. The rooms are very nice and clean. Also they had problems with the sewage system but again, it was fixed in an afternoon. The food is poor and really expensive, 40,000kip... More

Luang Prabang offers some wonderful restaurants and food experiences but occasionally a burger is the best thing to accompany a cold beer. I have to say the beef burger at the Aussie Sports Bar is one if the best burgers I've had anywhere. The quality of the patty was exceptional. I'm still thinking about it! A well run establishment with... More
