Attended the morning class with a market tour. That was great. After we got back, our instructor Linda gave a good introduction on Laos cuisine, the main ingredients, difference with thai food etc. Lots of dishes were preferred and she even cooked her favorite eggplant paste and also taught us how to serve the local river weed and also an... While being over in Muang Ngoi I had the best Lao food ever at the Bee Tree Lounge. I kept asking Noy the owner how he made the dishes and what ingredients wete in them. Eventually he told me that he learned how to cook at Tum Tum Cheng in Luang Prabang. What a coimsidence...we were just about to go... More

We did a cooking class at Tum Tum Cheng. It was just the two of us, the other couple didn't show up. First we could choose five (usually you can only choose four, but we couldn't decide, so we could choose five) menus we wanted to cook. Then we went to the market where we learned quite a lot about... More

For the prices, the food was very poor value for money, even by Luang Prabang standards. The quality was distinctly average and the quantities were below par too. To top things off, they tried to charge 15000 kip for a large bottle of water, then corrected on prompting to 10000. Hmmmm.

The food here was by far the best I had tasted in Laos. I would highly recommend it, and I will definitely try go there again next time I am in Luang Prabang. The staff were also very courteous and helpful. The cookery school is meant to be great too.

We booked in for the cookery course and there was only the two of us. The pickup from the hotel was late - we had to call them and the promised market tour we could have done ourselves really. No explanations or tastings just 20 minutes through the market whilst someone else bought our ingredients. Back at the restaurant we... More

I wanted to give this and excellent rating, and although the staff were extremely friendly, and the food fantastic, it was just ok. We booked in for the full day lesson which was meant to start at 8.30am and then we were to eat the lunch we cooked around 2pm. We only had a class of 3 people so thought... More

We found this place tucked well away from the hussle and bussle of the strip a few years ago and were please to see it was still there this year. Over the last week we have had a few disappointing but reasonably priced meals, some quite good, but wanted somewhere atmospheric for the last night with our daughter before she... More

First of all the staff was friendly and the setting was a nice open air terrace. The food was obviously made milder for tourists which to me means less flavour. The dishes were a little pricey for what you get too. Next time i stick to eating street food on the street. We had rice soup, khau soi and a... More
