A wander through the medieval town of Kotor culminates with a pleasant lunch under the awnings in a small picturesque square. The Scala Santa provided us with simply prepared good food. The salad was fresh and well dressed, the fish was presented for choice and grilled to perfection. A suitable white wine completed the meal. In short, a well cooked,... More

Visited in pre-season. Grilled sea bass was gorgeous, one of the best I have had. Service was mediocre, but overall a nice experience.

Four of us were walking around the Old City in the rain. We spotted the Konoba Scala Santa and ducked into the small door that led down the stairs to a basement. It was so unusual and charming. I cannot rate the food because we all just had Cappuccino while we waited for the rain to subside. There is "stuff"... More

interesting decor, with unusual mostly nautical bygones everywhere. Food and service were good, and the location was in the city centre. Would like to go again at a busier time.

We had so many good meals in and around Kotor old city, that it was a real shame that we ended up in Scala Santa on our last evening. The weather was cool, so we chose to eat indoors. Dark and with strange objects like some rather dirty looking animal cages hanging from the ceiling along with the more traditional... More

Our worst experience. Prsut was fairly good, but the rest not. We visited on a Christmas night, waiting time was long - we were the only people there, but we could live with that given the timing. My husband is a smoker but he was told to go outside to smoke - at some places, they let him smoke inside,... More

The best thing about this place is the interior. Unfortunately, with Kotor being an al fresco dining sort of town, it means that you're unlikely to get the opportunity to enjoy the inside. Having said that, if you're unfortunate enough to experience a downpour on your visit Scala Santa is one of the nicer places to dine indoors. The service... More

I had the grilled squid which was quite fresh and not too bad. My two friends had beef. One had a steak and other beef stroganoff. The meat was almost inedible. The toughest meat and tasteless. The prices were very high compared to other places in Montenegro and although the service was good the food was quite awful. Also very... More

We stopped by for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. We had an excellent Greek salad followed by one of the best spaghetti carbonara we've had. Very fresh.

Let me start off by saying that I have had to dock a few points off for the service in this restaurant. The first reason being that our table (and others) were totally overlooked during our meal- despite the restaurant being only half-full. This was due to the 3 waiters on service that night being far too pre-occupied with pampering... More
