Relax and watch your food being cooked

This is a quaint unusual restaurant located in the park about 150 metres across the road from the Valamar Dubrovnik President Hotel. What makes it unusual is that it has a charcoal BBQ in the main restaurant just outside the kitchen doorway where you can see whatever you have ordered being cooked... read more

If you are staying at the Valamars nearby this restaurant is a MUST visit. Indeed, even if you are not! The 'under the bell' means is a local way of slow cooking meat and veg and it's fantastic. You just need to let them know several hours before your visit that this is what you will be ordering as it... More

lovely traditional restaurant, nice food and friendly staff. I would recommend if you want a change from the hotels and it stays open late too.

We were apprehensive after reading other reviews but we were very pleased and in fact returned again during our stay. We had lamb under a bell/dome (we pre ordered at lunchtime) We were expecting a sort of lamb tagine, but it was succulent slow roast lamb pieces with roast potatoes and grilled vegetables. Yummy. And the Croatian Cabernet was delicious.... More

This local restaurant has very good local food cooked over an open fire. Very tasty and inexpensive. Well worth a visit.

We are disappointed with the quality of food, prices and service. The main courses we had were sausages, tuna and beaf steak. The sausage dish was just ok. The steak and tuna were made with poor- quality product. We did not stay for dessert because our waitress did not offer dessert, and she was very rude and unfriendly. Considering the... More

This place is inevitable if you stay at the Valamar resort hotels and get tired of their industrial type dinner buffets, but after having tried other places in town, you realize that it might even be your best choice, given the general standard and quite high price level in Dubrovnik and other Croatian resorts. Very nice setting, diligent service but... More

This was probably my favorite Croatian restaurant experience on our trip. We went 2 nights in a row. Ćevapi, rib steak, fish soup, spaghetti and one night we had the "under the bell" experience (lamb and veal). You need to call ahead at least 3 hours for "under the bell", which we did. Our service was excellent on both nights,... More

Four of us reserved under-the-bell lamb the day before (the under-the-bell veal or lamb takes three hours to cook, so must be ordered ahead). We had to order side-dish vegetables. We were very pleased with the quality and quantity of our dinner. On your way in, be sure to ask to see the "bell" on the open fire pit, so... More

I read reviews and even though I saw some bad ones, I thought it was worth a visit. I was wrong. I got there at 9pm and even though I was disappointed with the menu, I ordered soup and beef medallions and a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. I didn't want a full bottle, since I was eating alone, but they... More
