The restaurant appeared popular with locals as well as the stumbling tourist like us. certainly there are swankier looking places with far newer table clothes on the pavement tables but the food was the main and star attraction. the frogs grilled whole were excellent as were the veal chops and squid. The open mid restaurant kitchen showed that they were... More

The service was worst in Split. We had to leave the table to get some service and the restaurant had only few other customers. There was nothing special in this place. When we paid for our foods, they didn't even returned the change. When we asked for the change, the waiter said our check was XXXX kunas. I guess he... More

Good food and large portions. Ordered tuna salad and a plate of cheese and prsut for starters and it was enough for four people to share. For dinner we had cevapcici, pljeskavica and chicken. The cevapcici was large and there was 8 or 10 of them on each plate. The pljeskavica was served in two big pieces. The chicken with... More

I have been here lot of times and I enjoyed every single time. Almost every time we take the same-octobus salat as a starter and fresh grill fish as a main. This is probably their best dish.. Really simple but very fresh and tasty.

Conveniently located close to old town but on a quieter side street, this restaurant served up some delicious cuttlefish risotto and seafood carpaccio. Good value in Split, which charges tourist prices for most food and can be a bit daunting. Server was nice and attentive and the meal was a decent value. Good for traditional Croatian selections.

There is absolutely nothing special here. The service was surly, no atmosphere and pretty pricey for the food quality. We had a risotto dish and pasticada - this dishes came out in less than 10 minutes - they tasted like pre-prepared food. I would not recommend or return. There are so many superior restaurants.

I came across this little gem by chance whilst wondering the maze of Split, Croatia. The locals were sitting outside on a hot summers night dishing from the plentiful dishes on their tables. The very charming and friendly waiter/owner asked if I would like to see their menu... The rest is a satisfied "yes" history. The beef Pasticada is a... More

We went there on the first night after it was recommended to us by the owner of the apartment we were staying at. We had the 'Catch of the day' and a side order each and weren't full at all. We have had more satisfying meals subsequently elsewhere in the Old Town at a more reasonable price which is why... More

Hopped to Varos on my last day in Split for dinner with the traditional Pasticada. I came in early so there weren't many people around so I got very good and attentive service. The Pasticada was fantastic, it is a delicious dish and the accompanying gnocchi were fantastic as well. If you are looking to try this traditional dish Varos... More

I've had cuttlefish risotto maybe two or three hundred times in my life, but in konoba Varos that dish is something to shout about! My God, I couldn't stop eating, I just couldn't! And then I ordered another one, finished it too! And a bottle of wine, beautiful Zlatan Plavac Plenkovic , of course...ah, what a night! What a night!... More
