Worst meal we have had in memory.

We had been told by several people that this place was one of the best in town, well we'd hate to eat in the second best. The atmosphere was inviting enough and the menu looked appealing with both traditional and local specialties. We split a guacamole appetizer that was by far the blandest we have... read more

The Pepian sauce here is outstanding. We went twice in two days because it was so good. The second time was the best, we went for all the vegetables: Vegetarian Pepian, with lots of Chayote squash was wonderful, the grilled tomatoes, perfect black beans with farmers cheese, grilled green onions, fantastic green salsa picante, and delicious homemade tortillas. Great with... More

I came here twice during my visit to Antigua, the food is very good great Guatemalan flavor, I had the adobo pork which was very good then the caldo de gallina was very good especially after a hangover lol However the service needs to improve the first night I ask for some kind of Guatemalan tamal and the waiter failed... Fonda de la Calle Real has two locations across the street from one another. A smaller bistro inspired restaurant and a larger establishment with a lush courtyard and traditional Guatemalan feel. At this location we tried the chicken and avocado torta, chorizo torta (both were decent size, came with a side salad and came to be about $7) and to... More

One of the locals referred us to Fonda de la Calle Real because we asked for a restaurant that offers typical Guatemalan cuisine. We sat in the lovely garden and enjoyed a light lunch. The service was good and the food very hearty and enjoyable.

I ate there on a Sunday afternoon, and the food was delicious. The location is easy to find. It appears that all of the furniture inside the restaurant is handmade. The wait staff was very attentive. There was a group of men playing the xylophone out front of the restaurant which made for some great entertainment. they accepted American money... More

Nice variety of local specialties. It was spiced for a tourist's taste. I would have preferred thngs a bit hotter. Be sure to sit in the patio for the best experience. Courteous and attentive waitstaff.
