By saying nothing new I mean this still is the very best restaurant in Guatemala. Hector is the man behind it all. No fluff,no fancy just great food and the staff is wonderful. Charles Los Angeles

On our first day in Antigua we met a German traveler who told us that Hector's was her favourite restaurant. We searched it out (not that easy to find) and had a world class dinner. We especially enjoyed meeting the Canadian chef, Nate, who was hospitable, helpful and accommodating. Don't miss Hector's if you are in Antigua.

A local musician told us about another musician friend of his who had a small restaurant he liked. He said, "you get a lot for what you pay". He was referring to Hector's - so we looked it up (across from La Merced). It was everything our friend said it was, and more. The small space allows for an intimate... More

I'd noted the location of H Bistro, but stumbled across it whilst exploring on first evening in Antigua, and glad I did. Am amazed they can create it all in such a small venue and agree with most of the reviews on here - great food and friendly service; certainly the best I had on my holiday. Was especially nice... Good things comes in small packages... I've always like this restaurant, the reason why, is because I always obtain an amazing meal, the size of the place is excellent, it gives me the opportunity to get a seat all the time (fortunated). Good and delicious roasted portobello mushrooms (always ask for it), also, the Duck breast with grapes... it's just... More

Wow, we were so fortunate to find this terrific place, literally, it is hard to find although across from La Merced Church square. We were there for lunch when they opened doors so were amoung fortunate to get a prime table in front off window. Nathan, the new chef was very accomodating to our desire for vegetarian food in this... More

I was extremely fortunate to literally stumble upon Hector's after a long trip from London via Miami in September 2012. Dark and drizzly Friday night arrival alone in Antigua, looking for food. By chance it was an anniversary of (cant remember which one!)Hector's opening, free wine flowed and the food was lovely! Although the place was packed, the vibe was... More

I don't see the point of eating there when you are a tourist in Antigua : average european food, expensive by local standards. The duck breast was just not duck! Something rather untasty that may have belonged to a turkey or a chicken, but still cost 18€. The beef was OK, but still far from what we expected reading all... More

Your opinion has been taken into consideration. However, nothing has changed in our menu or service. We are a french inspired restaurant with a strong following. I can assure you that our duck and our beef are of the highest quality. Thank you. More

After reading other reviews and seeing a high rating on TA we visited in April 2013. Although the food was good it was not remarkable. The menu choice was fairly limited offering only heavy meat dishes and one vegetarian option (quiche).

Thank you for commenting our restaurant, we are a small french style bistro with small standard menu. However, our chef prepares everyday new and different specials from fresh pastas to succulent fish and seafood dishes, as well as varied vegetarian options. We are more than happy to do our best to accommodate special dietary needs and restrictions. Thanks again for... More

After having lived more than a year in Antigua, I still think Hector is the best restaurant you can find. I went to many place, good ones, and great ones. But Hector's food and ambiance is something that is definetly worth not only the visit, but even to wait for your table ... You wont find anything similar!
