I have been visiting Nantucket for over 20 years and continue to think Galley Beach is the best restaurant on Nantucket. Not only is the location spectacular, but the food, vibe and feel of the restaurant is great. The restaurant was recently fully restored and I think the owners did an amazing job of keeping the feel of the original... more

The Galley is hands down the best restaurant on the island. Go early and have a cocktail on the sand overlooking one of the best views of the island. The food is excellent both for lunch and dinner. The service is great and considering it is a fine dining experience, it isn't stuffy like some other places. The relaxed atmosphere... more

The Galley is expensive, but all the restaurants on Nantucket are expensive. The difference is that the Galley has GREAT food, with GREAT service in a GREAT setting. A much better value proposition than most of the other fine dining restaurants on the island. Go before sunset, have drinks on the beach and make reservations for inside (still really outside)... more

OK, the food is good, and the setting nice (during daytime - don't forget that you can't see the beach at night) - but not only are the prices obscene, last week I took my young daughter to a meal at the Galley for a special occasion. I ordered off the menu and she got the only thing available for... more

This was our ninth season on Natucket. It was great. I called well in advance to get a reservation at the Galley. This is reportedly Oprah's favorite place to have a wedding reception on the Island. At any rate, the location is to die for--unless it rains. It literally is on the beach with some tables out in the sand.... more

I vacation in Nantucket every summer. The Galley is a local institution, literally located right in the sand. The views are amazing, the food is wonderful, the service is top notch and the people watching is the best on island. You can get a cocktail and light bite on the sexy lounge furniture or have a fine dining experience in... more

I've had the pleasure of dining at The Galley every summer for years and always have an outstanding experience. I've been visiting the island for over 15 years and when asked by friends, colleagues and even visitors on the boat where they should go - they don't even have the chance to get the whole question past their lips -... more

Been going to this restaurant every year for about 20 years or so. The service and food used to be impeccable, been going downhill ever since. Went there recently and found that the service was very confusing (did we have two waiters? both of whom contradicted each other when asked questions about the menu), the food was lukewarm when it... more

ve been to The Galley several times and it is definitely hit or miss here. We were just there last week and some things were great, some were terrible. We had a 7pm reservation and arrived at 6:30 for cocktails. We informed Terry the "great" host that we were going to have drinks at the bar first and then have... more

They've got a completely breathtaking view of the sunset on Nantucket, unlike any other restaurant on the island has. Their menu is certainly fine dining, and the atmosphere is impeccably decorated. Always had great service, especially at their bar. The bar is a bit small for my taste, moreso when it starts to get crowded, but their service has been... more
