Oran Mor Bistro is located up a flight of copper stairs in an historic Nantucket home. The restaurant has an intimate bar and three dining rooms with attractive earth-toned decor that are a warm prelude to delicious, beautifully prepared food. The bar radiates warmth of the past with its wide plank flooring, pen and ink bar top and gaff-rigged wine glass racks. Oran Mor features handcrafted cocktails from the freshest ingredients, house infusions and specialty spirits. The wine list predominantly features wines from France, small American producers as well as a travelogue of wines from around the world. Oran Mor Bistro is owned by Chef Chris Freeman and his wife Heather. The cooking style is one of inspired simplicity; each ingredient complements one another to create a unique, savory dish. The evolving and innovative menu is derived from the changing seasons and their bountiful offerings. Showcasing native seafood, fresh local produce and naturally raised meats from select farms.

play with a pie and a pint

A pleasant day sitting watching a comsey play in Byres Road with a pint and a pie to keep me company. The play was well presented and the actors gave conviction to their roles. An entertaining way to spend an afternoon in the West End.

Food was okay, long pause between courses (thought they forgot us), ambiance crowded, views are of rooftops, service so-so. All-in-all, there are better choices on Nantucket for the price.

We've walked by Oran Mor countless times and always wrote it off due to its abundance of seafood, which we do not eat. However, when making reservations for Nantucket Christmas Stroll, we looked at the menu and found some things we would like, so we gave it a shot. The meal was very good, but what was better than expected... More

You have to walk upstairs, but it's worth it. Great food! Nice atmosphere, varied menu, focusing on seafood and farm fresh ingredients. The desserts are to die for. Try as many as possible.

Have been coming here a few years, have never had a bad meal. Love the view, disappointed this year not to get the special outside balcony table for our anniversary dinner (& the couple who had gotten it ended up moving inside because they were chilly.) Mediocre service this visit, will still return.

The place hit the marks in terms of what we were expecting, classic Nantucket. The scallops were exactly what I wanted (love they incorporate Bartlett's Farm ingredients), and the place had a cool atmosphere being on a second level of a house. Would definitely return.

My wife and I enjoyed a fabulous dinner. She is an excellent cook/chef and marveled that our meal was "the best in ages." We shared the Lamb Chops and the sauce with them was so so mouthwatering. The Clam Chowder was just excellent. We are ready to go back NOW!

The food and presentation here were amazing. I had the duck and it was amazing! The portion size is perfect as well.
