Good food, but not consistenly superb

I was there April 15, 2015, as a matter of fact by chance: We were booked at Nipisa, but when we got there the restaurant was closed! so, we needed an alternative and took to Sarfalik. 7 course menu, just under 600 DKK + wine. They had a wine menu for about the same price, but we opted for a... read more

chose for the tasting menue of 7 courses (there is another one with 9). The starters are tiny but not inappropriately for a 7-course menue. They give a good introduction to the local cuisine even though not all is local. I had expected more fish but maybe that is exactly what Greenlanders don't expect as fine dining. The only fish... I was there for a late lunch, with a collegue who was sadly leaving of the US. The "shooting star" which consists of a fried filled of plaice and a cooked filet of the same fish, topped with shrimps, 1000 island dressing, asparagus, etc. The food was excellent, as was the view, bit expensive, but worht it if you want... My grandson and I enjoyed both lunch and dinner at the Sarfalik. We were very impressed with the menu's offerings. He being a more adventurous diner than myself - truly injoyed a wide variety of local dishes. I was more reserved trying the lamb which was delicious. I did have small tastes of his dinner and it was reallly good.... More

Having visited this restaurant before I had reasons to expect at least one great fish course on the menu. Instead they had one rather conventional course of salmon. To try somthing out of the ordinary I ordered whale meat but were served quail. Can you top that? The waiter said that it must have been some misunderstanding and inplied that... More

The restaurant is on the top floor of the Hans Egede Hotel in Nuuk. The interior of the restaurant has a distinct 90's feeling, but the food is surprisingly good. We tried the set dinner menues two days in a row - reindeer, whale, seal and musk ox - prepared with local ingredients. The food was really good - and... More

This hotel is located at the 5th floor of the Hotel Hans Egede. It is said to be one of the best in Nuuk and I agree. We came her for both lunch and dinner. They offer a variety of dishes of international standard and with great local ingredients and culinary traditions from Greenland including musk ox, reindeer and fish.... More

A bit too fancy for nothing really. Serving the courses on huge square plates doesn't make the taste any better. Vegetarians have to clal in advance to be sure the chef will serve you and you can be sure to pay a sturdy price for a nothing but an omelet and some risotto.
