Stay away for breakfast, but good for lunch and dinner

Came here for breakfast this morning with my sister, mother and grandmother. Service was good and friendly, but the food was very disappointing. My sister and I got the buttermilk pancakes with fresh berry compote ($2 more than the pancakes without the compote). The "compote" was one sliced... read more

Thank you for your feedback on TripAdvisor. We greatly appreciate your visit at the Andover Inn and Samuels Restaurant. I have shared your comments regarding the disappointing breakfast experience with our Chef and Restaurant Manager. Unfortunately we forgot to place the compote on your breakfast altogether; the berries were merely the garnish. We feel terrible about this and extending our... More

There were three of us here at Samuels. We had dinner and breakfast. Let's begin with breakfast. Two words says it all--terrible, and understaffed. Pancakes and french toast were some of the worst we had ever had. Super dry, and awful looking. No appeal at all. They must of have been short staffed too, because there was only one wait... More

I lived in Andover for 6 years and always wanted to try Samuel's, but for some reason I didn't get around to it until I moved! My boyfriend and I regularly seek out unique places and places with history, and Samuel's did not disappoint. The restaurant is beautiful, comfortable and in a very quiet location, we were in love with... More

Very well done dishes, good selection of beer and wine. Perfect service. The haddock dishes are superb.

What a hidden gem. We had the crab cakes, clam chowder, and i had beets and goat cheese salad and everything was delicious. My husband had jumbolia and I had asparagus with spaghetti squash and tomatoes with a side of gnocchi and they were 10 out of 10. Our waiter, Jeff was attentive, kind, very responsive and one of the... More

I recently had a business lunch at Samuels, the staff was very professional and attentive. Food was fantastic, suggest the fried oyster BLT! Want to go back and relax at the bar and try their selection of Microsoft brews.

Samuel's is a great place for drinks with friends--has a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. Good food also, but high prices limit it to "special occasion" status. We also had a special lunch here and were disappointed in the service, but they had just reopened after remodeling & new management, so maybe hadn't worked out the kinks yet.

This was a nice, lively but not noisy place for a group dinner on a recent weekend evening. There are some unusual items on the menu-- for example, try the brisket sliders-- very tasty. Most of my pals seemed happy with their choices, but I was a tad disappointed in a soup that was described as a "stew," but which... More
