Description: Yella, which means “Come On, Let’s Go” in Lebanese, is a Modern Mediterranean Grille located in the heart of downtown Andover. Chef Carlo Berdahn and his wife Danielle together co-own the picturesque bistro, bringing a new and fresh dining option to the Merrimack Valley. The intimate space and updated décor provide a warm and relaxed atmosphere, while its crisp linens and open layout give the dining room a comfortable and inviting setting. Lebanese inspired, these beautifully plated dishes remain true to the hearty traditions of regional cooking; warm soups, dark lentils, subtle teasing spices, velvety risotto, crispy pan seared fish, succulent lamb and delectable desserts. Chef Berdahn uses his culinary expertise to create classic, yet modern Mediterranean dishes.

My husband and I decided to branch out last night and try Yella, a new-ish place that opened at the site of the late, great, and lamented Cassis. I had to laugh out loud to see that it is ranked #2 in Andover. I guess that is what happens when there are no places to eat in the northern burbs... More

My wife and I went for dinner. The service and food were excellent. A little pricey and portions weren't too large. . Small restaurant. Call for reservations.

I don't think it is hard to make or find high quality med food. This place has good food no doubt. Atmosphere is stale. Bathrooms need renovation. Staff is competent, but boring. I would not go back here on my own, but wouldn't turn away if someone else wanted to go.

The falafel was to die for, the best I've ever had. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars was because my husband's meal was a little bland and too rich. That said, he tried a new dish (kibbeh) and didn't know what it is supposed to taste like, so maybe it's just a bland dish in general. But judging... More

Dear BethVF13, Thank you for sharing your experience with us at Yella. We're thrilled to hear that our falafel is the best you've had! It is especially unique as we get our spices straight from Lebanon which lend an earthy, aromatic flavor that is truly authentic to the middle east. This is the same recipe that Chef Carlo's family has... More

We've eaten at Yella several times and it's never failed. Starting with a choice of indoor or outdoor seating (nicely appointed spots in both cases) and superior waitstaff (Jay was our waiter tonight: he was attentive, knowledgeable about wine and very pleasant), our visit this evening began in a positive way. The complimentary hummus/toasted pita was delicious and the falafel... More

Dear Carol, Thank you for crafting such a thoughtful and expressive review. Incorporating farm fresh produce and supporting other local businesses is of the utmost importance to us. We're so happy to have a local partnership with Boston Hill Farm in North Andover, as they offer us the opportunity to serve delectable farm to table cuisine. The cod is one... More

I have dined at Yella a couple of times and have always enjoyed the experience. The food is authentic Lebanese/middle eastern. The hummus and baba ganoush are very tasty. The place is small and cozy and also has outdoor seating in the summer. The wine list is very good too. I would totally recommend this place if you happen to... More

A friend and longtime Andover resident brought me here for dinner--said it is favorite for his family in area. Very interesting options both for appetizers, salads and entrees. Taking inspiration from around the med, I had grilled octopus, a Tuscan themed salad, and Lebanese Kibbeh. Decent wine list. Desserts looked good but we were full. Pleasant dining room, as evening... Dear Joseph, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're very happy you enjoyed the Mediterranean options on our menu. My husband was born and raised in Lebanon so the Lebanese dishes we feature have been prepared for generation by his family. The Kibbeh is one of those dishes with his own modern twist. The grilled octopus is inspired by my... More

Local friends told us about this restaurant, tucked away on an obscure side street. It's the kind of restaurant travelers like me seek out. There's no secret to this kind of success. All you have to do is pay attention to every detail, be a superb chef, and treat your customers right. The thing is, very few restaurants achieve that... More

Excellent food and small and intimate atmosphere. My only complaint is that it's so small, it's hard to get a reservation on the weekend and it's a bit pricy to be so cramped.

Thank you for the feedback, Cathy! We absolutely agree with you in that Yella certainly has space limitations, and do wish that we were able to accommodate everyone seeking a reservation with us on the weekends. The good news is that our outdoor patio will be opening soon for the season, which will provide us with six additional tables to... More
